If any of you can come up with a domain for the event let me know. Perhaps we can organize our own little auction but we donate all the money to a charity instead of keeping any of it? I found a list on CNN and I see a few that I believe to be reputable.

Exactly.
a) Businesses, like forums, are a reflection of their directors and the kind of people that they "hire" or draw in.
b) Businesses/forums, do not have to be run unethically to thrive.

I'd suggest one that does not reflect the event itself...

What appalled me was the fact we'll send 80 billion dollars to Iraq and only 15 million to the survivors of this catastrophe.

More will come in time. I believe that the initial package is basically an emergency fund and there will be much more as time goes on. The entire EU could only come up with 25 million so hopefully they'll send more as well.

I just contacted Nike about the listing. :tu:

eBay seems like they don't want to monitor the listings so hopefully they'll get better with it if they start feeling the heat from some of the larger corporations. :|

This fraudulent behaviour can largely be prevented by more strict t&c for
IDN-domain auctions when it comes to these oxymorons, with that a more strict regulation in general with regard to typo's and more IDN-support in the specialized online auctions (where are you sedo and afternic ?) .

I don't see much use in blocking the IDN-variants of general domains, how to discriminate exactly between existing phrases and conjured IDN-bullshit.

Nice to see you guys standing up!

Makes me love this community even more.

I picked up a few names and will have them for auction soon enough. I want to get the details cleared out first. Hopefully I can get a good amount to send from them.

True.. provided they are truly unaware that these names cannot be sold as they suggest. After working tech support for a few years, you'll find that your appreciation for the average human intelligence goes down several notches. ;)

Well think how "dumb" the average person is.. now on the average.. 1/2 of them are dumber than that.. now add in all the great minds, stephen hawking and doctors, mensa, scientists, and wow, the below average either has some real low numbers or there are alot more of them to compensate.. :bingo:

Hehe... I'll go with the real low numbers theory.

We once had a guy call tech and insist he couldn't see anything on his "screen" no matter what he typed.. well, after a few minutes, we realized he didn't even have a monitor as yet.

I tried contacting Ebay themselves about someone selling Ebay(hashmark) in auction 5740041207 but it seems that I could not get any of their automatic email forms to start working.. maybe they are overloaded (G).. can anyone else get thru to them? or does [email protected] work? or is that just a robo-responder?

I contacted eBay a few days before Christmas on an individual and never had any problems with the email forms. However, they never removed the auctions or anything so I don't think they give a rat's behind on whether or not the listings are ethical and honest. The more fraud that goes on the more they put in their pockets.

You could try the [email protected] address as it would be worth a shot. Don't get your hopes up on them doing anything though. I've moved past contacting them and now I contact the company directly if there's a listing involving that company. If the large corporations start complaining to eBay because there's domains that are exploiting their company and brand name then hopefully eBay will actually do something.
