Interesting question...I did some research on .EU.COM and it seems to be gaining on .eu itself! ;)

.gb.com anyone??

hey there,

as you may know gb.com has been introduced since a while ago in the UK...i wonder what you guys think of the extension as a competitor with .co.uk. Long way to go but would .gb.com ever even again popularity?

Are the good names worth registering?

Cheers!

You also have .uk.com

so IMHO! that even makes gb.com undesirable.

yes good names are worth registering, but those names worth money are long gone.

and yes, there is a lot of companies that use them.

UK.com and GB.com are both 'sub domain' services if you really look at it.

As are Firm.in Gen.In Ind.in and the upcoming Web.In

At least from the point of view that they're run by companies who own the said domains and are not 'approved' ICANN extensions.

You gotta be selective

I make quite a bit of cash using them eg tickets.uk.com and phones.uk.com and shop.uk.com and date.uk.com but you have to form a good partnership making use of the generic domain and getting the right cut.So the generics can be very good and alot cheaper than acquiring the .co.uk
on the secondary market.

Samit, you would say the same thing .de.com? Just hand regged GREEN

.de.com today. These might actually pick up in the coming years. I see loads of sites indexed on Google! My point is...if it's subdomain service, how come the www part is existent in the URL?

Alistair, yes, these are CentralNic sponsored:
us.com
qc.com
br.com
uy.com
ar.com
no.com
uk.com
eu.com
se.com
de.com
hu.com
ae.com
sa.com
za.com
ru.com
cn.com
jpn.com
kr.com

I think you might be better off buying a LL.com and starting your own 'tld' than 'investing' in any of these type of subdomains.

Cheers!

Unfortunately, no more good "country LL.com's" are left anymore...:(

Yeah, the centralnic guys pretty much tied those up over 10 years ago.

Think I saw an interview with the owner a while back, the max he paid for one of these country code ll.coms was 35k back in 1999 or so, smart chap.

You could also run this with a LLL.com or even an LL.de, LLL.in etc.

Wow...good deal...I'm sure he got the money back in profit exponentially! :)
