Hey whatz up guys i have a question about copyrighted images hopefully this hasnt been asked already anyways here it goes

Im recently trying to become an affiliate for a company so anyways

I took a picture from another website and i modified meaning i flipped it around erased a few things here and there and so now i placed on my website

this picture that i got so far, from what i researched, it is not copyright meaning theres nothing on the picture itself or theres copyright policies on the webpage explaining not to take anything the only thing i found out that this is a product (it is a bumper sticker ) so thats what is making me nervous about taking it,

so heres my question

can i take a picture and modify it like i did and use it on my webpage for promoting purposes on the internet or would i have to ask for permission?

to be safe always ask permission.
and why would you modify another logo not your own.

you took someone elses image, modded it and then used it, without permission,

what type of image is it? cant you find something similar somewhere else and pay the fee to use it? some sites out there sell them for like $5.

the answer to your question is no you cant use it and mod it without permission, unless you pay to use it.

I'm curious. Do you have a sign hanging on the front of your house saying:

"Everything inside of this house is mine. Please do not take any of it."

I'm willing to believe that you don't have a sign like that, and that if someone went into your house and took things, they'd be stealing.

well

evertanian7uk:

i believe its a clipart(Im not sure what you are referring to please help). im trying to get a hold of them to see if i can pay a fee of some kind to use it.

p.s i havent launched the site yet so im still in the clear right now

k heres another thing i found out right now

None of their links on their webpage work like

privacy policy, about us faq etc

could they be up to something...............

just found out some more disturbing news

some guy on a webpage reported that he got ripped off about a couple a months ago from this website for a product he ordered and never received

unfortuantly, it doesnt matter that nothing on the site works, or that they may have ripped anyone off, the fact here is you took an image from there and altered it, the bottom line is although many many people do it, it still isnt right.

heres a few links i found searching google:

www.freedigitalphotos.net

iStockphoto.com

www.BigStockPhoto.com

there just 3 of many sites that you pay a small fee to then you can use the images no problem.

dont be a ripper, pay the original creator a very small fee and use the image legally, its the simplest way to approach this.

I was trying to figure out the logic in his statement as well.

I stole twenty bucks from Charlie Manson. Since he's a mass murderer though, it's all good.

Just for the record...
I'm sure that is a metaphor about Charlie, and that Dr. Berryhill never stole money from anyone. ;)

Thanks for the clarification.

Yes, it is a metaphor about Manson. As anyone familiar with the case knows, he did not actually kill anyone.
