.tv Cylcling tv company Sold for $2 million

Just read this in the industry news thread, whilst it is not the actual domain that sold rather the entire business, it will no doubt raise awareness of .TV brand and goes to show that a solid ,succesful,business can be built on .TV.

If cycling.tv can achieve this kind of success then what could be achieved with names such as news.tv and jobs.tv?.

= $7,200,000

and they sold for combination of stock & cash. Still a wise move imho because it looks like the buyer (JumpTV.com) is definitely a soon-to-be major player.

180,000 is a nice amount of subscribers and cycling is a fairly low key sport compared to football,basketball etc.
But imagine the possibilities of a name like Jobs.tv and how many potential subscribers that site could have, suddenly the $100k renewal seems far more attractive.

4 months ago, I got a lowball offer for kickboxing, and I counteroffered with the equivalent of 16.000 $ (the potential buyer was a well known kickboxer and promoter).
After negociations he agreed with the price, and Sedo initiated the payment process. A week after, Sedo sent a reminder, and he answered by telling he never agreed (this means he never clicked on the button 'accept offer' + confirmation LOL).

Going to research their business model (subs) and see where it takes me. Seems very easy to duplicate when you have a rabid fan/user base in these sports categories.

Their burn rate must be high, otherwise this would be a cash machine & worth alot more. :imho: GREAT exposure for .TV

This one is going to be interesting...the press I am sure will be all over it when the time is right and management wants to get coverage...They are probably still building out and are not looking for it.

Also mentions 18,000 subscribers at £25 per subscriber, which equals £450k annual revenues (app $900k), a price to sales ratio of 5.3X. Now this sounds like a great deal for buyer, seller, and dot tv
