How much do you think cybpay.com worths ?

cyb is pronounced in the same way that cyber is pronounced without the "er" , making cybpay a rather nice-sounding domain ...

In an abstract way I think the brandability of the name is "comparable" to PayPal ... I am not saying that it worths as much as PayPal ... I'm just saying that , in an abstract kind of way , it is "similarly" catchy and brandable ...

Take this test to see what I mean ...
Suppose that you know nothing about PayPal and that you have never heard the word PayPal ...

Suppose you are a consumer trying to choose between two online payment websites ...

there is .......... PayPal .................... and there is .......... cybpay

which one would you choose ? Remember ... you are seeing the names for the first time ...

Even if you chose PayPal , you might possibly agree that cybpay also looks quite professional ...

furthermore , it is also very short (6 characters)

Also a small contest ...

cybpay.com (together with a couple more domains) is currently in an eBay auction (with a very low starting price)...

that auction ends in 5 days from now ...

whoever comes closer to the amounts it ends without passing it will receive NP$250 ...
if you hit it spot on , you will get another NP$250 ...
rounded in dollars (so as to be easier) ...
if more people win with same amount (same amount posting is allowed) , they will share the prize(s) ...

thanks for your post irishmat , if it does not sell you'll have won NP$500 (supposing noone has posted the same answer , otherwise the NP$500 will be divided equally) .

If there is bid (regardless if the transaction completes afterwards , the contest is for the ending amount) and noone posts here ... you will earn NP$250 for getting closer ($0) without passing it ...

I'll guess $20. Someone might be tempted to buy it at the starting price.

thanks for your posts ...

if there are no bids ... irishmat gets NP$500

if it gets one bid at $20 ... ekal and cr0e get NP$250 each

if it goes over $20 ... ekal and cr0e get NP$125 each

(according to the posts so far)

I'm a newbie. But with only 6 letters and the word "pay" I'll guess it will go for $75.

(If it were netpay or webpay I think it would be worth lots more)

I think it will go for $32 Ebay auctions get good bids at the end, also 100% feedback.

gdave , rzpvile - thanks for your (rather more optimistic relative to the previous posts) opinions ...

p0werm4n - PayPal is going fine (100,000,000 members worlwide) ... I am a domainer , don't want to spend so much time or resources ... cybpay possibly has other uses also ... eg. a corporation payroll site , a financial site , a utility bills payment site , etc ...
post an estimate for the contest , if you want to , of course ...

p0werm4n - thanks for your appraisal ...

if you also want to enter the contest (of how much the eBay auction will end) , you must put a specific dollar amount ...

Well, i agree the name is catchy and brandable :) I would place high xx on this name, in short i think it will go near $80

khuldun - I think it is rather brandable too ... to the right buyer it could worth thousands ...

you are in at $80 for the contest (the "near" cannot apply for the contest)

I don't really think that it will sell, sorry.
Good luck though. I hope you do find a buyer.

Domain has no value.

YOU ASKED

there is .......... PayPal .................... and there is .......... cybpay

which one would you choose ? Remember ... you are seeing the names for the first time ...

I will not choose any NAME, I will look for the people behind both websites and the better FOUNDER will win.

freaj127 - thanks for your post ... if it does not sell you'll share the NP$500 with irishmat and vivsin

Jake - cyberPay would logically worth a lot more (being more generic) . The value of cybpay hides behind its short length and its symmetricality in the number of letters from the middle ... cyb pay ... and possibly the good graphic (or logo) that could be created with the letters b and p (also being kind of symmetrical themselves , on the horizontal axis)

vivsin - read freak127 answer above . The test (to discard anything you know about PayPal before seeing the names) was meant so that you can assess the possible intrinsic value of the domains ... for example you might agree that google is a really nice domain (besides a great company) ... the word is short , connected with googol (mathematical term for ten in the hundredth power) and it rolls off the tongue nicely (something like if you are gulping a liquid or playing with your tongue) ... therefore you might possibly choose it from another more "rigid" or "ugly" name if you had completely no input regarding the company behind it and had to make a choice whether to use it or not ... of course you would take other things into consideration ... but the test's purpose (to assess the intrinsic brandability of the name) was a little different ...

R u asking for users own comment? or want then to give it a good value only?

None of my business, but If short and Speakable names can generate more $$ then I am going to be rich, I own ZOWIZ.com :hehe:

vivsin - from what you quoted in the first post's test , I understood that you did not understand the purpose of the little experiment ... of course anyone would take into consideration other things , like the people behind a site ... but the purpose of the test was intrinsic brandability ... not website development , company background , funding or marketing ...

Also , I miscomprehended something in your post ... to enter the contest you must either enter an amount or say that it won't sell ... saying that the domain has no value does not translates (word for word) that the auction won't sell (as I thought it meant in the first place) since the auction has 4 more domains ... of course , you might think that they have no value either and just post that the auction won't sell to enter the contest ...
