This site has 2 aspects, the first is to provide other sites with updated headlines that are relevant to the content of the users site. The second, which is something Ive added in the last week, is a link exchange program.
The site was born out of an idea when I saw the domain available for sale in 2006. I set about coding the site and its been around since I believe Sept/Oct 2006
The site is totally custom coded, im using a free template for the look of it - solely because im not good at design, but the programming side of it is all done by me, there isnt another site anywhere thats using the same code.
There are 2 aspects to the site, first is the part that provides headlines for other websites.
Automatic Headlines
There is no signup process so its very easy (try it for yourself) - A user picks the category of news and it taken to a page where they are given the option of customizing the look of the headlines (similar to how Adsense does) - then copy/paste the HTML into their site and there you have it, they will then up-to-date news headlines in a category of their choosing up on their site.
Each time the site is loaded (any page) the script checks when the last update was, if it was longer than 2 hours ago then it will update the headlines automatically - you dont have to do anything.
From within a password protected control panel you have the option to update the Headlines straight away - no real need (that I can see) that you'd want to do this but I added it just in case.
There is also the option form within the control panel to manually add a headline to one of the categories, this allows the option for selling links.
Link-Exchange
The second part of the site is a link exchange program, if someone add headlines from NewsToolkit to their site - and then adds them-self to the link exchange then for every time the headlines are viewed then a link to their site will appear in the headlines also. So the headlines have to be used.
When someone adds their site you have the option from the control panel to auth/reject the entry - this stops any chance of abuse (rude words or inappropriate links etc), also means you can ensure that the site is being linked to headlines that relate to the site in the exchange... for example, you wouldnt want a site about baby food showing up on a site related to sports or the economy.
You can manually add a site from the control panel, aswell as delete any entries.
From within the control panel you can also update the Blog section of the site, a good way to interact and keep users updated.
A member of the link exchange can view a report about their site, including how many times their link has been seen, as well as clicked on.

You put as much work into the site as you want, you can totally leave this site and it will run as normal, but people wont be able to join the link exchange (as mentioned you have to auth them to prevent abuse).
Ive already said the site is unique, I coded it and the code isnt used anywhere else.
