Today, the UK pound lost 3% of its value against the dollar.

The Euro lost 1.5% of its value against the dollar.

As almost ALL deals are concluded in dollars it is now the case that purchasing a good name just got a whole lot more expensive for Europeans and a lot cheaper for Americans.

In the space of a few months I have lost about 40plus cents on every pound I used to spend.

I know many of the US Namepros members felt the pain of a weak currency a few months ago and are now revelling in its glory. Did they learn anything that they could now pass on to their European cousins?

Is now a good time to sell for Europeans?
or
Is now a good time to sell if you are American as the strength of the dollar will become more accelerated?

What are the pros and cons of the rapidly changing currency markets for TV domainers?

If I recall, the currency swings have been in the favor of other major nations when looking at the US dollar. Any ground the US dollar has gained back is minimal compared to where exchange rates were several years ago. I wouldn't exactly call the dollar a strong currency in light of this country's economic woes and its going to get a lot worse before it gets better.

I am more of a developer and not much of a domainer so its hard to see it from a domainer's perspective.

If you are in the UK and you own a developed DOT TV site that caters more to another nation and your products or services sell in that nation's dollar, then exchange rates will affect you. This will add a new element to your business: timing the conversion of foreign currency to your home currency. That is probably the biggest factor that I see off the top of my head for some developers. Either way, if that is your problem, its not a bad problem to have.

The Canadian dollar is down to a 3yr low against the greenback so buying for me has got a lot more expensive. :td:
On the plus side it makes selling more profitable. :tu:

P.S. I will accept any currency for my sales. :hehe:

My Goodness

Another 6% drop in the pound against the dollar and it's not even lunchtime!!
The euro is just as bad.

How long before Europeans (and others) will be unable to compete against Americans in any sales process because our currency is made of jelly!!!!!!!!

In just one month every pound in my pocket has lost the equivalent of 25 cents.

I imagine you might see a lot more sales from non-dollar NP members quite soon!
