A Florida father is fighting for his life after contracting coronavirus from his son, who tested positive after ignoring his parents' advice to stay home and not gather with friends.

John Place, from Plantation, is currently in the intensive care unit at Westside Regional Medical Center where he was put on a ventilator for more than two weeks.

...But despite her pleas, he went out against her wishes one night in June, when he gathered with friends and removed his mask while eating and drinking.

Days later, he felt cold symptoms and a friend at the get-together told him she had tested positive for coronavirus. By then, it already had taken hold in the young man's household.

'You let your guard down just one time, it's all it takes,' Zymet added. 'You come home, and you infect the entire house.'

Maybe they think, "None of us are sick. We are fine." They don't understand many of us are asymptomatic and are positive carriers of the virus.'

But members of the family started to fall ill one by one, starting with his 14-year-old brother, who is also overweight and was wheezing, coughing and lethargic.

The six-year-old sister had only a runny nose. The stepmother was achy, with a fever and chills.

    --------

This story is going to repeat many times, unfortunately, because now the big spreaders of the virus are the young, gathering and partying without masks nor social distance. And they don't realise what's going to happen next, infecting all their families and sending to the ICU the most vulnerable.

It was really unfair of the mother to publicly blame her stepson. I think she would have been more circumspect had it been her own son. In that case she probably found someone else to blame it on.
And did you notice how fat the Florida father is. That is why he is the hospital. I don't think the son held a gun to his father's head and forced food into his mouth. If you don't take care of yourself...you die young.

Task force report says 18 states in coronavirus 'red zone' should roll back reopening

(CNN)An unpublished document prepared for the White House coronavirus task force and obtained by the Center for Public Integrity, a nonprofit newsroom, recommends that 18 states in the coronavirus "red zone" for cases should roll back reopening measures amid surging cases.

The "red zone" is defined in the 359-page report as "those core-based statistical areas (CBSAs) and counties that during the last week reported both new cases above 100 per 100,000 population, and a diagnostic test positivity result above 10%."

    https://www.cnn.com/2020/07/17/politics/white-house-states-hot-spots-task-force/index.html

This is alarming. My state is on the list, and it still surprises me how careless and disbelieving people are.

India Surpasses 1 Million Confirmed Coronavirus Cases

India's confirmed coronavirus infections have surpassed one million cases. The country crossed that threshold on Friday after registering nearly 35,000 new cases— its biggest spike so far in a 24-hour period.

India has been breaking its own record almost every day. Only the United States and Brazil have more confirmed cases, and India is slowly climbing towards Brazil's figures. Brazil has now surpassed two million confirmed cases.

More than 25,000 people have died in India after testing positive for COVID-19.

The Covid death statistics in the US are phony. The death of every person with Covid is reported as a Covid death. In Orange County, California, A person who died in a motorcycle crash was reported as a Covid death because he was also infected with the Covid virus.

This is from Florida, though it's become common knowledge in many sectors about this happening. These sectors being military, police and healthcare most notably. I've spoken to military personnel first hand - the psychological operations and fudged statistics are commonly known. The information is there for those who can look beyond the mainstream media conglomerates:

Six companies own the majority of the media . . .

"By 2011, 90% of the United States's media was controlled by six media conglomerates: GE/Comcast (NBC, Universal), News Corp (Fox News, Wall Street Journal, New York Post) Disney (ABC, ESPN, Pixar), Viacom (MTV, BET, Paramount Pictures), Time Warner (CNN, HBO, Warner Bros.)" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Media_conglomerate

The true death toll by covid-19 is way higher than the one being reported by all countries.

You just have to count the total excess deaths compared from last year death number, and you will see every country lowering in more or less measure the real death toll.

    https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/04/21/world/coronavirus-missing-deaths.html

153,000 Missing Deaths (from data in 28 countries) :
Tracking the True Toll of the Coronavirus Outbreak

In the case of the US, from Mar. 15 to June 6, there were 115,200 more deaths than last year, but only 93,800 deaths were reported as Covid-19.

That's 21% more than the official report. 21,400 more deaths than the official Covid-19 report.

And every country doing the same, to a greater or lesser extent.

So don't come here underestimating the death Covid-19 toll by just one wrong case by a motorcycle crash, because the REAL number of people dying by this pandemy is WAY HIGHER than the one being reported.

People dying at home and at nursing homes are not being reported as covid-19 deaths because they die without being tested, and out of a hospital.

And you don't have 115,200 more deaths than past year in two months and a half for nothing.

Older Children Spread the Coronavirus Just as Much as Adults, Large Study Finds

The study of nearly 65,000 people in South Korea suggests that school reopenings will trigger more outbreaks.

A large new study from South Korea offers an answer: Children younger than 10 transmit to others much less often than adults do, but the risk is not zero. And those between the ages of 10 and 19 can spread the virus at least as well as adults do.

The findings suggest that as schools reopen, communities will see clusters of infection take root that include children of all ages, several experts cautioned.

I've been in/around the construction industry for most of my life in one way or another. A friend that is a custom builder has made so much money in the last 4 months (including non-refundable deposits on homes to be built) that he bought a beach house rather than rent one for 2 weeks for his upcoming family vacation. ALL his new contracts are for homes 25+ miles outside of a major metro...some about 40 miles. All the buyers are saying the same thing...they want out of the 'city'. Unrest and Covid are the two reasons given.

Flight to suburbs boosts U.S. homebuilding, but COVID-19 surge erodes consumer sentiment

    https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-economy-idUSKCN24I1OY

EDIT/ADD: Just to clarify, the beach house mentioned above is not fancy...it's an old school beach house...small and simple...but better than the one I don't have!

    Breaking news.

Coronavirus: Oxford vaccine can train immune system.

https :/ /www. bbc.com/news/uk-53469839 (Broken link as I am unable to post links.)

A coronavirus vaccine developed by the University of Oxford appears safe and trains the immune system.

Trials involving 1,077 people showed the injection led to them making antibodies and white blood cells that can fight coronavirus.

The findings are hugely promising, but it is still too soon to know if this is enough to offer protection and larger trials are under way.
