Having relatives and friends scattered all over the globe, I am getting an overload of input (some on the record and some off the record).

My intention for this thread is for community members from around the world to post first hand stories and/or links to information sources that, for the most part, should be reliable.

In my community, just outside a major southeastern city, 'assets' have been placed. Only because I have friends in both high and low places have I heard about some of this. At this point it is only some basic medical supplies that should be equally distributed anyway in preparation for a natural emergency (hurricane/wildfire/etc.).

I will start with posting a link to a site with current data that seems to come from an aggregate of sources and hope others will do the same as they come across similar sites/pages.

Because of the 'typhoid Mary' spread-ability of this disease, I feel we may be in for a really large spread globally which will impact the global economy and through extension, retail domain prices.

One thing is for sure...things will get worse before they get better.

Want to work out at Planet Fitness during the pandemic? You'll need a mask.

https://www.businessinsider.com/pla...-members-to-wear-masks-starting-august-2020-7
During a high rate of covid-19 infections, I think gyms (at least indoor) should remain closed.
But if they open, yes, using masks should be mandatory on every gym.
People do exercise and breath harder, expeling a high load of saliva droplets and aerosol.
One person infected by covid-19 doing exercise into an indoor gym is a super spreader of the virus all around that gym.
So it should be mandatory to cover the mouth and nose to prevent the heavy spread of these droplets on every open gym.

Masks May Reduce Viral Dose, Some Experts Say

People wearing face coverings will take in fewer coronavirus particles, evidence suggests, making disease less severe.

...experts are pointing to an array of evidence suggesting that masks also protect the people wearing them, lessening the severity of symptoms, or in some instances, staving off infection entirely.

Different kinds of masks “block virus to a different degree, but they all block the virus from getting in,” said Dr. Monica Gandhi, an infectious disease physician at the University of California, San Francisco. If any virus particles do breach these barriers, she said, the disease might still be milder.

...people wearing face coverings will take in fewer coronavirus particles, making it easier for their immune systems to bring any interlopers to heel.

Effectiveness of surgical masks against influenza bioaerosols

Live influenza virus was measurable from the air behind all surgical masks tested. The data indicate that a surgical mask will reduce exposure to aerosolised infectious influenza virus; reductions ranged from 1.1- to 55-fold (average 6-fold), depending on the design of the mask.

New Jersey governor condemns house party at a packed Airbnb with over 700 guests

(CNN)A house party in New Jersey was so packed with partygoers openly flouting the state's Covid-19 crowd guidelines this weekend that it took police officers over 5 hours to break it up.

The bust occurred on Sunday at around 8:30 p.m., when police officers arrived at a house in Jackson that was being rented out through Airbnb, according to a statement by Captain Steven Laskiewicz posted on the Jackson Police Department's Facebook page.

Still, the party continued to grow, with the crowd surging to an estimated 700 people with well over 100 vehicles parked in the area, according to the statement.

REVEALED: ‘Red Dawn Team’ of medical and security experts sounded alarm about COVID-19’s deadly potential in January

https://www.rawstory.com/2020/07/re...sounded-alarm-about-19s-potential-in-january/

Yep, I had heard about it weeks before this thread was born...assets in Asia were already notified. Either the ball was dropped by those that should have been looking out for us or it was intentionally allowed to spread. 20 years from know we may know.

BTW, China is exporting seeds to the US...don't open the package if you get one and contact local authorities...story below:

This is a disturbing thought, but the fact that the severity of the virus has been downplayed all along makes one wonder.

Somewhere I read that Trump was getting briefings on the virus back in November 2019.

Old friends that are workers in that area of the world said there were references to a 'sickness' in late October in some communications in the far East.

There are so many possibilities as to its origin and whether or not or by whom things were done or not done and for what reason(s) a two or more edition series of books could be written.

I'm guessing the books (and movie) are already in the making. In the movie, we'll see lots of mask-muffled conversations.

This is worrying:

"The research suggests the virus can directly damage cardiovascular muscles with ongoing inflammation detectable months after recovery, even in patients originally suffering a mild form of the disease.

...cardiovascular abnormalities in 78 percent of the recovered patients. Signs of myocardial inflammation were detected in 60 percent of the subjects.

...only 33 percent of the cohort studied required hospitalization during the course of their COVID-19 infection. This suggests a degree of cardiovascular damage seems to result from the disease regardless of the severity of the acute illness."

Every time I watch a movie now, I'm concerned that the actors are not social distancing!
It's weird watching films that were made six months ago now. They are so dated.

It's funny that managers of retail stores haven't figured out that it's hard to hear with people talking through masks and sneeze guards. They keep the music at pre-Covid volumes, and no one can hear anything.

Yeah, this thing is looking nastier than most think it is. I'm seeing more articles like this turning up:

The virus affects and expands through the vascular system, potentially reaching every organ of the body.

“We thought this was only a respiratory virus. Turns out, it goes after the pancreas. It goes after the heart. It goes after the liver, the brain, the kidney and other organs. We didn’t appreciate that in the beginning,”

"In addition to respiratory distress, patients with COVID-19 can experience blood clotting disorders that can lead to strokes and extreme inflammation that attacks multiple organ systems."
