Let them be happy,Exercise there rights as individuals..But NO TO GAY MARRAIGE! and NO TO THEM HAVING THE SAME RIGHTS AS HETEROSEXUAL COUPLES.

If I really stretch, I can see 'maybe" no to gay "marriage" (but not civil unions) but I simply can't understand why anyone would begrudge a loving couple in a long-term relationship the same protections everyone else enjoys simply because they are "different".

I fail to see who we are to deny anybody the right to marriage regardless of the sex, this all stems from religious bs and people trying to bully others into their beliefs. If two homosexual people want to get married then it is none of our business and we have no right to tell them they can not. Live and let live....live free or die....equal rights to all....these mean we all have the same rights not some but all.....this just can be related to the blacks wanting their rights...ignorance is no stranger in America and we need to stop and recognize that we have to stop holding people down....in the end those who deserves rights will get their rights....it's a shame they have to fight for what we get so easily.

I agree.. my only contention is, in separation of church and state, the state shouldn't rule that gay marriages MUST be allowed, but they can rule that civil unions of same sex couples must be allowed. We can't legislate for the churches in other words. Otherwise, I have no problem re: gay marriage and if the civil courts would recognize it, I'd be all for it. I'm an ordained minister (Universal Life Church) any gay wants to be married, I'll marry them, lol!

Yes but you do not need a church to be married, a judge or a captain can marry anyone it just needs to be recognized by the states. The churches can keep their beliefs where they belong....in the church.

I think that's the confusion most people make is they feel it invades the sanctity and separation of the church.. that's why I say I see absolutely no problem with civil unions, if people have a problem with it being called "marriage".. to me, a wedding is a wedding and I'd deny no person that joy.

Marriage is not a religious entity it is a legal one.
Churches should have to abide by the laws of the land or lose their tax exempt status.

I view churches as foreign entities.. they exist unto themselves, like an embassy, and should IMO.

Countries like Canada and some in the EU that have already allowed same sex marriage and afforded them all the same rights are still going strong - and in many respects are stronger socially than those that continue to deny others their inherent rights under their national laws.

Don't allow religion to dictate the course of national discourse - or else you let the Taliban win.

That excuse was trotted out in Canada as well - and it hasn't happened. So was the fabled men marrying goats and women marrying horses scare lines.

So they should be above the law?
I don't see it that way.

If they are a "foreign entity" then surely they should pay their fair share of taxes.
There are thousands of low rent shysters out there making a fortune off of "religion" and not paying a dime in taxes.

Churches and/or members of it should be allowed to choose not to conduct gay/lesbian marriages. Just as they should not dictate to the others in society, neither should they be dictated to. Plenty of Rabis, Priests, Clerics etc have and will continue to marry couples who so choose to marry the same sex - and others will always refuse and that should be their inherent right.

Pehaps you can point out some statistics from other countries that allow same sex marriage.

it's already happening and has been happening in America and dozens of other nations for hundreds of years. So why is this some kind of wedge to deny others their rights today?
