Hello everyone,
I want to share my recent experience as a regular domain registrant. This ordeal involved a disputed domain name transfer, where I believe that Namecheap (Spaceship.com), the ADRForum, and ICANN have failed in their respective roles to protect registrants' rights. My intention is to help others learn how to safeguard their rights while also seeking clarity and constructive feedback from this community.
My primary goal is to share knowledge and raise awareness.
My Lawsuit Timeline:
From the moment the UDRP decision was delivered, I contacted my lawyer within 10 minutes to initiate the preparation of a lawsuit—there was no delay on my part. Unfortunately, despite my prompt actions, my lawsuit was ultimately filed after the 10-day window, based on ICANN's strict interpretation of the deadline.
I've always trusted Namecheap and value their services. However, their choice to disregard my court filing notice and proceed with the domain transfer has been disappointing for a loyal customer.
ADRForum’s Inaction:
The ADRForum has not provided any meaningful support or explanation regarding their swift decision or how I could have prevented the transfer after filing a lawsuit.
ICANN’s Lack of Support:
Despite multiple attempts to seek assistance from ICANN, I have received no actionable solutions. Their failure to intervene has severely limited my options to protect my domain.
I share my experience in hopes of receiving clarity, advice, and support from the community. Here’s how you can help:
I invite fellow registrants to share how they would handle such a situation. If you know a qualified attorney in China, please feel free to reach out to me. I believe the UDRP system is increasingly misused and that we urgently need fair safeguards for respondents.
If you have advice, insights, or feedback, please comment below or contact me directly. Thank you for your attention, and to everyone offering support, let’s work together to create a fairer domain management system for all.

The UDRP Decision: Speed Raises Questions
The UDRP panel issued its decision just 48 hours after the hearing. Such a rapid conclusion, particularly in a case with complex details, raises concerns. I am left questioning whether the panel adequately reviewed the evidence or merely hastened the process.Transparency Issues
There is a significant lack of transparency regarding how the UDRP decision was reached, especially given the short timeline. The 10-Day Filing Rule: A Barrier to Justice
ICANN’s 10-Day Rule requires domain registrants to file a lawsuit within 10 business days of the UDRP decision to prevent the transfer of a domain. However, this timeframe is often insufficient for respondents to secure legal counsel, draft court filings, and serve notices. My Lawsuit Timeline:

Request for Clarity
I seek clarification on whether there exists a specific rule allowing registrars to ignore lawsuits filed outside the 10-day window. If such a rule exists, I would appreciate a direct citation to the policy. Conversely, if no such rule exists, the domain transfer in question may constitute a clear violation of ICANN regulations.Proposed Change
I strongly advocate for extending the lawsuit filing period to 30 days, which I believe would offer a more reasonable timeframe for respondents to respond effectively.Concerns About Key Parties
Registrar’s Role (Namecheap/Spaceship.com):I've always trusted Namecheap and value their services. However, their choice to disregard my court filing notice and proceed with the domain transfer has been disappointing for a loyal customer.

Repeated Attempts to Communicate
Throughout this dispute, I have sent over a hundred emails to the registrar, the ADRForum, and ICANN, none of which resulted in constructive feedback or assistance. This has left me relying entirely on my own resources and legal knowledge.I share my experience in hopes of receiving clarity, advice, and support from the community. Here’s how you can help:
- Legal or Policy References: If anyone is aware of ICANN or UDRP policies permitting registrars to ignore legal filings after the 10-day window, please share official sources or precedents.
- Similar Experiences: If you have faced similar issues or successfully challenged a UDRP decision, I would greatly appreciate hearing your story.
- Recommendations for Legal Counsel: If you know experienced attorneys in China or elsewhere who specialize in domain disputes, I would be grateful for your recommendations. I am determined to pursue this matter to its conclusion and need all the support I can find.
- Suggestions for Change: Do you believe the 10-day filing window is fair, or would extending it to 30 days better protect domain registrants? Have you witnessed instances where the UDRP process was misused against legitimate domain owners?
