I want to publicly share my experience with NetworkSolutions.com (previously domain.com) so the community can avoid going through the same nightmare I did.

I registered the domain chatgpt*****.win in 2023 with an active registration period until 2028. For more than a year, everything was normal. But a few weeks ago, I suddenly discovered that the domain had stopped functioning—even though my DNS settings were correct.

What followed was one of the most frustrating and unprofessional customer-service experiences I have ever encountered with any domain registrar.

❌ 1. DNS Not Working, Support Completely Unhelpful

When I contacted NetworkSolutions.com support, they could not explain why DNS wasn’t propagating. I made the changes then waited for 12 hours but still not affect, then I had a live chat, supported said I should wait 24-48 hrs -> I waited for 48 hrs but still no change -> alert to live chat supporter.

Live-chat agents only simply repeated the same useless line:
“We received a notification that your DNS change was unsuccessful.”
It took them almost 4 full days to tell me the domain was “locked,” with no explanation.

❌ 2. Sent Me to the Wrong Registry & Closed Tickets Immediately

After more 3 days, they told me to request an unsuspension at:
https://abuse.radix.website/unsuspension

But my domain is not even in the Radix registry, and obviously could not be found there.

Shockingly, NetworkSolutions support closed the ticket immediately after replying, preventing me from responding. I had to open an entirely new chat session just to inform them of their mistake.

Then they said they would “investigate”—and I had to wait another three days.

❌ 3. Endless Automated Emails, No Real Investigation

For nearly two weeks, I received nothing but automated messages every 3 days saying they were “investigating.” No progress, no details, no accountability.

❌ 4. Final Decision: Suspended With Zero Evidence

Eventually, I only received this email after 3 days:
The registry suspended the domain name CHATGPT*****.WIN. According to the registry, they will review your status, if you can provide SOLID proof that the domain name is not being used in bad faith. Once we receive this information, we will provide it to the registry, and they will review the request.

Then I responded them:
Dear Abuse Team,
Thank you for informing me about the suspension of my domain CHATGPT
*****.WIN

I confirm that I am the legitimate registrant and administrator of the domain name. The domain has not been used in bad faith in any way. Its intended purpose is entirely lawful and legitimate — it is planned for a personal/educational website that provides general information about AI tools and technology. The site does not impersonate any company, does not offer unauthorized services, and does not mislead users.

At the time of suspension, the domain was not hosting any harmful or misleading content. There has been no phishing, malware, spam, or deceptive use associated with the domain. I can provide any additional information you may require.

Please forward this confirmation to the registry so they can review and release the domain.

Thank you for your assistance, and please let me know if you need anything further from my side.
Kind regards,

Finally, I had to wait more 3 days to get this reply:
“The registry suspended the domain due to infringement on CHATGPT.. The suspension will not be lifted.”

This decision was made without any proof, without any explanation, and without any actual review of my case.

The domain was:
  • not used for phishing, malware, or spam
  • not impersonating any organization
  • completely inactive and clean

Yet they refused to unsuspend it.

Their final message was dismissive and completely unhelpful.

🚨 5. Conclusion: Be Very Careful With NetworkSolutions.com

My experience shows that:
  • They are extremely slow (3–6 days per reply)
  • Tickets get closed immediately before customers can respond
  • They give incorrect instructions
  • They rely heavily on automated messages
  • They refuse to provide evidence for domain suspension
  • They offer no real appeal process
  • Their support team appears untrained or uninterested

I strongly recommend that the community avoid NetworkSolutions.com if you value reliability, transparency, and timely support.

And to ask for advice on what steps I should take next to re-gain this domain?

Many thanks

Network Solutions has no control over the Registry. If the registry suspends your domain, there is nothing Network Solutions can do. Contact the registry.

It looks like there are trademarks for ChatGPT in the UK. Since Gibraltar, where the registry is based, is part of the UK, that's probably why they canceled it. But, I'm not a lawyer and I haven't read the actual trademarks. So you would have to ask them.

Okay, so...

It was placed on "serverhold" status by the registry. The registrar would have had nothing to do with that, as has been pointed out to you, and their support people might not even have any information about why.

But, let's get real here...

The domain was:
  • not used for phishing, malware, or spam
  • not impersonating any organization
  • completely inactive and clean

Really? What do you call this:

So, running a website in which the staff of OpenAI is listed as "our team" is "completely inactive and clean" and "not impersonating any organization"?

You had the photographs of several well-known people on your chatgpt4.win site as "our team", you are mystified that someone may have gotten the attention of the .win registry to shut your site down, and you are going to blame Network Solutions for not knowing why the registry turned it off?

Is that an accurate summary or have I missed something?

You should join forces with this guy:

...in the "I violated registry policies and can't figure out why my name was shut off" forum.

thank you so much for info, I forgot about Archive, so I really did not realize my website has this part. Liked, Thanked and Important your post

but I really still would like to clarify a misunderstanding.

The archived version of the website did not claim that OpenAI staff were working for my website, nor did it present them as “my team” or “our company’s staff.” The section clearly explained that:

“The development of ChatGPT and other related AI models by OpenAI involves a team of talented researchers…”

This wording refers to OpenAI’s team, not my team, which is factual and publicly known information.
It was an informational paragraph describing who developed ChatGPT - something thousands of blogs and tech sites also do.

Even the first sentence of website said: "ChatGPT, created by OpenAI, stands as an AI-driven language model"

There was no claim such as:
  • “These people work for my project”
  • “This is the staff of chatgpt4.win”
  • “We are affiliated with OpenAI”

None of those statements appeared anywhere on the site.

If the wording caused confusion, I accept that it could have been clearer, but the intent was informational - not impersonation.

Importantly:
  • My site did not present itself as OpenAI
  • I did not brand the site as an official OpenAI service
  • I did not use trademarks in a misleading way
  • The website was not used for phishing, subscriptions, login pages, or commercial gain

It was a simple informational site explaining AI tools, including who created ChatGPT.

So no — the summary you wrote is not accurate.

You go to ChatGPTWhatever.whatever,

And the website says, ChatGPT team: Meet Our GPT and AI exp Team Members....

Isnt it impersonating and potential scam or fraud by making the people assuming its related to ChatGpt site? Just curious.

It was a simple informational site explaining AI tools, including who created ChatGPT.

That’s got to be one of the most stupid things I have ever read on this site, and that’s saying a lot.

It says “Meet OUR GPT and Experienced AI Team Members”

, I forgot about Archive, so I really did not realize my website has this part.

Bullshit. You said it was “completely inactive”. Now you just don’t remember “this part” because you didn’t realize it was in the Archive?

You might be the smartest person in your village, but I can assure you that people outside of it are nowhere near as stupid as you think they are.

how to transfer ????
Use the OpenAI Help Center to contact Support, outline your domain donation offer, and ask for the correct email or department for voluntary IP/asset transfers.

so how do you think if my site remove this word "our" or replace it by "OpenAI" then whole website has any problem with ChatGPT or OpenAI or any trandemark?

Yes,
undoing a crime doesnt undo the crime.

Yeah this kinda lines up with what I’ve seen lately. Once a registry flags something as trademark-related (especially anything with “chatgpt” in it), the registrar’s hands are basically tied. They won’t show you “proof” because they don’t need to… the TM itself is enough for them to suspend it.

Even if you weren’t using the domain for anything harmful, the exact term CHATGPT + TLD is enough for them to treat it as infringement. Registrars don’t fight these cases — they just comply and move on.

I don’t think you’re getting this domain back tbh. The appeal process is mostly a formality with AI-TM names right now.

Your best next step is probably just:
• move your other names away from NetSol if their support was this bad
• avoid registering anything with big trademarks in the label
• if you want to build an AI tool site, go with a clean brandable instead of a TM term

I know it’s frustrating, but this is one of those situations where even perfect behavior on your side wouldn’t have changed the outcome.

perhaps my question is unclear

so how do you think if my site did not have this word "our" from beginning then whole website has any problem with ChatGPT or OpenAI or any trandemark?

I repeat, my site is only an informative site

I repeat, my site is only an informative site
It's an infringement machine. I don't think you realize how many people have rolled here thru the years saying, it's just an information site, I'm not monetizing it etc, in a room full of domainers who know exactly what is going on. I'm shocked you even started a thread bringing attention to it. You're trying to find a way to talk it this into being ok, not happening.
