Hi,

I would like comments on my logo at www.squaresandpixels.com. I have redesigned the site logo 6 times now and haven't really liked any of them myself. I don't mind the current one yet I think the writing looks a bit pixelated.

If you think my current logo is fine, please say. Also, check out my blog to see my past logos: http://www.squaresandpixels.com/blog.php.

I'd love to hear your suggestions as I want to get this right.

Thanks in advance!!!

It still requires more work. Don't use such a strong bevel effect (it looks like default settings) - this is the best way of getting the early 90's look and feel.
It would look very nice if it was done in pixel style (3D maybe) - but this technique requires experienced designer...

Also think about contrasting the colors.

Well, to be honest the logo isn't very appealing, I even think it's been created using paint. You can work harder with that. Paint and pixel is a nice site name, but please, don't let the letter look pixelated. The overall design is very good but not the logo. I know you can do better than this. More power to you site dude!

it needs lots of work.I have to agree with the others.Don't use so much beveling, gradient and strokes.I don't like the colors also, especially that blue and i'm not so fond of the font you used.

I would prefer to see something without all that styling.

Just being honest.

I agree with the others. I'm not an expert, but I think simple is sometimes a LOT better and more appealing, so try to keep away from the program filters/effects...also, I feel like the three words are all a separate entity from one another. It might look better to have it connected or closer together instead of separated like that, because it seems a bit too fragmented. You're trying to establish the business name as a whole, so it should represent that.

Thanks for all the comments so far, they're exactly the kind of stuff I like to hear.

I wasn't too fond of the logo myself to be honest and your comments will help me get it right.

Thanks again!

I saw both links and i even i can say that the current logo is better than the ones in the blog page i believe you must redesign it

When you finish a logo let you eyes loose put your brain to track your eyes. When you eyes stop to logo areas, examine this area further

1. You are a victim of gradient. For example the last line is loosing focus because you start from dark grey and you end up white BUT you put gradient to 'PIXELS' too and the last lines of 'PIXELS' is lighter too

2. Remove the grey background completely. Forget the photoshop plugins for a while.

3. Don't give weight to word 'And'
(i also believe that the name is not so good because there are too many vowels, the word 'and' is ommited from search engines and in lowercase the domain name confuse you a bit, i can read for example 'sand' and not 'and'. When you glue words it's better to end the first word with consonant and start the new with consonant too to avoid possible mix of two words. This is a generic rule and doesn't apply to all cases)

4. You are not forced to use a pixel font to replicate the meaning of the site (even if it reminds me the gold era of spectrum)

5. If you like so much the effects put a cutout effect at the curve on the right side of the logo
