Hi guys,

I put ******** together in the last few months. All the work has been done by myself in my spare time (I am not a designer), so please take that in account :)

Make sure you check a thread as well. Example:

There is a lot more to check if you have minute or two.

I'll be happy for every review, positive or negative. Just keep it honest and constructive, so I can eventually improve it, or just remove it completely if it's so bad :/.

Thank you!

Update: deployed early update to the site today. This is major rewrite to the project, with full redesign and a lot of added functions. Not finished yet, but it's coming in a week or two. Meantime, you can post your feedback :)

My post as a test: https://seoforum.com/thread/2018-major-seoforum-rewrite

@xynames Thanks, but I don't like Xenforo too much

@Makise can't reveal the price

@Amar D Thanks, but I am working on my own forum

@asset.domains Thank you, I appreciate it!

@DotComWriters Thanks mate. I wrote it from scratch, so it's nothing publicly available.

@CrazyTech Thank you for your opinion. I totally understand what you're talking about, and I was working on that. The redesign is now out and I think it works a little bit better, talking about the brand aspect. What do you think?

@lock Thank you!

@Goku Maybe yes, maybe not. It's my hobby project, so I try to build it myself. The good thing is, I have full control over the codebase, so I can build whatever feature I want.

@dojo Thank you. The design is now gone, so I hope you'll like current one too :)

@HMS Naveen Nope it's not :) Thank you.

@lock Sorry you hate it, but I've deployed update earlier today. Is it better?

@nameaura Thank you and nope, not flarum :)

Nicely done. Competitive niche.

Thanks and yeah, definitely competitive. I don't think I can compete with old communities and content websites that put in a lot of money and effort. Actually, I wouldn't build it at all if I wasn't passionate about it...

1st of all GREAT domain!

But I don't like forums in that format. I like forums in the traditional format like namepros. Scripts like Simple Machines, Vbulletin, phpBB, etc. Forums like yours look like blog comment sections, which I have always hated to read. I would switch to a traditional forum script, but that's just my personal preference.

Also, your text is a little too small. Also, don't use medium or light gray text. Note everyone has perfect eyesight. Use black or almost black text. Too many websites today use light text on light backgrounds. Too hard to read. Design with users in mind, not just looks. Users are more important.

Thanks @EbookLover for your feedback and suggestions. Maybe I'll try something else in the future, but that's just a matter of website design.

Readability (specially replies) - that's valid concern, I should improve that. Thank you.

Its not a forum structure

Great domain and forum.

I don't see why you aren't using an already established forum platform like xenforo, etc.. this will give you time to focus on content and managing the community rather than developing the forum from scratch.

Thank @AdamFL

I could use whatever vB/Xen/... but long-term sustainability is a concern for me. I want to be able to implement any features if I need. With Laravel based app I can do that easily, as I am backend Laravel developer.

Xenforo is a must!
I don't really like Xenforo.
I don't like it's boxy look, and hierarchical forum/category structure.

The only thing I'd be willing to switch to is Discourse, not sure what other people think though.

Most definitely. Discourse is the awesome new kid on the block, but different in terms of usability for certain niches/industries. Just look at the comments here. Everyone seem to prefer oldschool forum style.

You gotta listen to your users. But people here aren't necessarily your users, so there's that.

While I agree with you that most people here prefer traditional hierarchical forums, we are building new website in different niche.
If I was building alternative domain name forum, I'd probably ask what people here think, because it's the same audience.

In case of SEO forum, there is no history - we can set our own standard for coming years. Sure enough, it has to work for new users, provide information they are looking for, respond quickly and be intuitive to use. But it's different case - that's why I don't really judge our potential audience by what people here say.

Nonetheless, I am super grateful for opinions and feedback in this thread!

IMO...

I really dont know why discourse is the new thing it looks like a cluster phuck when you go to these pages and nothing is really organized...

If you re-read my post, you'll see I said exactly that.

I wouldn't change a thing, I really like the modern new look. Maybe because I am used to Flarum and is somewhat similar.

I really really really appreciate people that want to make their own stuff instead of using others. That is what I do as well. I am in the process of creating a forum like system that resembles 4chan, the popular website.

Good luck :)

Few more updates and fixes to the site deployed this week.

If you have any particular suggestions, I'll be happy to discuss/consider/implement.

Thanks!

This is what I see via mobile ๐Ÿ“ฑ
The Page is stretched out and you have to scroll to see the rest of the information.

This should be improved and corrected!! for a better mobile experience considering that mobile owners are out numbering computers.
The design looks simple!! and could be improved!!

Also you have to look for categories scrolling down from the website!! Categories should be easily available from the drop down menu rather than having to scroll through the entire website
