Sorry,
but here is my age old question...

I have a great 2 worder.
I want to buy "one" domain.

The .com version "with" the hyphen (-) is available.
and
The .net version "without" the hyphen is available.

Which do YOU pick???

Here is an example of the domain I want...
Permanent-Scar.com
or
PermanentScar.net

Please do me a favor,
If you stop by this thread, even if you don't Post a reply...
Please Vote on your preference.
A nice bump like...voted, WOULD help though..LOL

I would really appreciate it,
Thanx!

Oh, and by the way,
estibot values the .com w/the hyphen as...
twice as valuable as the .net without the hyphen,
if anyone cares...lol
I found it interesting!

Thanx.

I think of things in terms of the radio test:

PermanentScar.net vs Permanent (hyphen or dash) Scar.com

.net wins.

For a really good combination or where the hyphen makes more sense, I would go for the com, otherwise the net may be stronger. In reality I would probably reg both and mirror the website.

I voted .net

I did'nt vote because it would depend on what the domain was and how it was going to be used TBH, In general I'm not much of a .net fan.

Hyphens kill the type-in traffic but don't hurt the search results. If it is a keyword name, the .com with hypen is better. If it is a brandable, the .net would work better.

I am a fan of hyphenated .COM with one well placed hyphen, but would still take the non hyphenated .NET in most cases.

not a big fan of hyphens here.

I predict that in the future. the gap between .com & .net will close more significantly.

Typically I feel that hyphens cheapen a name as much as an extension can.

Agree with MrSpartan and Gazzip -- would have to know what it's being used for. For SEO purposes, I'd say go with the hyphenated .com, for resale, you'll most likely have much better luck with the .net.

I predict the gap between .com and .net is going to widen when a ICANN brings out a hundred new extensions further diluting everything, but .com will still have it's type-in traffic (at least for a good while after these new extensions come out under a worst case scenario) and enduser appeal.

NAH I think .net will remain second only to .com

Look at previous TLD's .info .biz .name .pro etc etc

I would take a 2word without hyphen .net anyday but i don't like hyphens in domain names etc.

But it really depends on domain..

I always try to stay away with .net and hyphen....

Voted for .com with hyphen...

I voted .com with hyphen.

I voted .net, but I would try hard to find a new choice so that you aren't in this dilemma.

It depends on the use, I couldn't just pick one or the other right now

But if I had to choose one now - I would have a small, just a smaller, inkling towards the dashed com.

But again, I would have to know the exact phrase, business model, intended use, etc etc.

I'd register the .net without a hyphen.
