Is there any legal issue in buying a .com domain name, when the .net is already a developed site of similar context? Example, buying computers.com and someone is already selling computers on computers.net.

*.com is older then the .net, if this matters.

Thanks for helping out.

Hm, maybe I didn't phrase it right. The domain I am really talking about is not a generic term or phrase - from reading that article I think that is what you are saying.

Thanks

If its not generic (descriptive) and you plan to use it for the same type of service that the .net operates their site around, then you could be looking at some serious problems. However, if you use it for something completely unrelated to what they are doing, then you should be fine.
