Say there are to sites that have the same success and popularity on the net. Is the one ending in .com neccessarily worth more than the one ending in .info?

Yes, I would say the .com one ending in .com worth more than the one ending in .info.
If theyโre sites that would directly compete with each other, the .info would probably be sending the .com some of its traffic.
First of all it wouldn't matter if the two names belong to the same company as they would not sell either of the two. But in general, yes a .com name would would fetch more than a .info name. As everybody knows .com is the most popular extension and most people tend to type a site's name in the address bar with a .com :imho:
.com is still the most popular extension up to now, and people automatically type .com when accessing a website, so I'd say this domain will have more worth than the .info counterpart.
