Ti start colocation service isn't an easy thing but first I think I have to choose the company to use it from.
Two companies were advised me to have a look at - serverpoint.com and ncisp.net.
Both companies have their own DCs and price range is normal.
What would your priority be?

First of all I would like to say thast instead of a colocation I would recommend you dedicated server to use. This is simplier, and this is not so risky.

Then I would like to say that insted of those companies, I would recommend you using the services of apthost.com - this is the one of the most reliable companies, and their dedivcated servers are part of the really stable network, which is ууут from the sites which are hosted with them.

for dedicated i think theplanet, hostgator, rackforce would be good
* thplanet prices is a bit high but they are the biggest one in dedicated server hosting

Cannot say if anything would suit you to get colo, until I know the location of you. However, there are great deals offered by globaltap.com - they have colo, dedicated servers, which are better to get as for me. The company ffers high quality for reasonable money.

As someone said: colocation is the same as dedicated server and nightmares and troubles in addition
I support

I'd go with serverpoint, this company has been in the web hosting for a fair while and they provide their service knowing the needs of their clients, plus they have their own DC that is significant for running a co-lo service.

If you're looking for cheap colocation with server management or cheap dedicated servers, you should check out ColoStore. I've been hosted with them for a few years now - their service is phenomenal, their speeds are lightning fast, they own their own datacenter, and most-importantly their support is excellent as well as their pricing.

My sites average about 6000 unique visitors per day as well...so having a server that can support high traffic sites with them alone with minimal, if at any downtime, really says how great they've been for me. :)

Colocation is only I believe $40 a month with them. I had a custom server built by them, but you can colocate yours if you wish.

I do not like colo: this brings up troubles with shipping, technical service and other things connected with your own equipment.. I would rather go dedicated server. But if you already have equipment to co-locate I will join the rec of globaltap.com, as this is really one of the few companies which are trustworthy. Make sure that DC location is OK and go ahead.

Colocation idea: the server should be close to you as possible. I believe that is the most important to have your server colocated in your neighborhood

Don't forget that the location between your server and the company's Data Center should be very close to each other. Taking into account your needs, I suggest you to check hqhost.net because it started to offer New Jersey colocation servers and the price is affordable for such configurations I think. They are well-known for providing stable and secure services.
