I would use namecheap however they want $18 for the 2 years, rather than 123-reg who want $10 for the 2 years.

I would go with 123-reg but their whois opt-out doesn't work and the interface is horrible.

Are there any registars who support .co.uk, offer free whois opt-out, have a nice interface, offer custom DNS settings (ie I can set up ns1.domain.co.uk) and are a bit cheaper than namecheap?

.co.uk domains already offer free WHOIS opt-out, you can hide your address via Nominet. You probably have to be in the UK to get this however.

Not many companies do this in the UK because Nominet already does it for free

If it's .CO.UK domain names... you should go with http://www.LCN.com. Their registration is £7-£8 but it is worth it. They are top notch.

This is what I recommend:

Register at the cheapest registrar --> Transfer it for free to LCN

Then when renewal comes, transfer it to the cheapeast registrar you can find -->then transfer it back to LCN

If you change the tag to AI, they will drop it in to your account within an hour. Their customer service is second to none.

For .co.uk i use namehog, however the last time i registered they replied saying "ktnx m8 4 regging a name wit us" so after that i wouldnt advise using them.

i tried 123-reg.co.uk for the first time and they are ok. Just a little difficult to navigate and change nameservers etc... as it is an absolute jungle
