Who the buyer is?

If you like russian cities/places, you can grab KRASNODAR.CO (my drop), this domain name is better than Siberia.co or Novosibirsk.co. IMO

Also available for hand reg
ROSSIA.CO (Russian translit)

Payment for this domain name is in escrow. Once the deal is over, I'll be reporting it to DNJ.

FYI, Rossiya is the correct romanization for ะ ะพััะธั. Rossiya.co is already taken.

Of course, we do have ะ ะพััะธั dot co in our portfolio.

Is Krasnodar better than Novsibirsk? :p You made my day.

Btw, thanks for sharing your thoughts on this. Much appreciated.

Krasnodar.co is definitely weaker in terms of population - 750K vs 1.5M in Novosibirsk, not even touching the fact that the latter is a well-known science/research/edu/tech/startup center in Russia while the former is an under-developed agricultural region's capital in the South...
that said, both have little value if any, i have to admit nonsense of being in agreemen with RU inthis case
Siberia is another story, having next to none value for Russian web where it is referred to as Sibir, but still stays brandable worldwide. I doubt that the buyer is from Russia where geo+co has as much value as Maharashtra.xyz in India

best

Any Geo which has abundant Travel opportunities will do very well with .co brand, and personally I sold many such Geo.co brands to natives as well as to foreigners.

Who told you Russian Web has no value? :)

Did you know, way back in 2009, ะ ะพััะธั.com was sold for seven figures, if I remember correctly. It was one of the largest unreported IDN sales in the history. There have been so many such unreported sales in the Russian Internet market. ะผะพัะบะฒะฐ.com was sold for $216,000. If you don't know about the Russian Internet market, have a look at these facts (as of 2011):

The total Russian Federation population is around 143 million, there is plenty of growth left to be had when around 58 million people are online in a month. That means Russia is poised to overtake the German market any time soon, if it hasnโ€™t already. That also does not include the Ukraine, which is Russian speaking, but is almost always additionally targeted by Russian Internet companies.

Meanwhile, here are a few quick factoids (figures are in Euros).

Internet Stats in Russia

Monthly Users: 57.8 million

Daily Users: 44.3 million

Online ๏ฟผAdvertising Sector

Worth: โ‚ฌ1.05 B in 2011

Dispaly ads: ๏ฟผโ‚ฌ388.5 M display ads

In fact Russian market is much more stronger than East Asian and Middle-East Internet markets.

Of course, we do have Sibir dot co in our portfolio for the local market, and as exactly how you presumed, the buyer of Siberia dot co is not a Russian. :)

We are talking about .co domains, they can hardly be compared with .com domains...

Yes, indeed, but I was telling about the Internet penetration in Russia for 4pm's view on Russian Web in overall.

I didn't compare .co and .com, and everyone on this thread is well aware of .co :)

im Russian so there's really little need to quote facts and stats. I was talking of geo+co (in general and Siberia dot co inparticular) value for Russian web.. also a couple of random IDN .com sales dont make up for good stats to support any further conclusion, in fact Russian market is .ru market, the rest is marginal, .co is nonexistent.. you just confirmed that by telling your buyer was not from Russia which otherwise would of shocked me a bit

In every country the corresponding cctld holds the major stake on usage. In Germany it is .de, in Japan it is .jp, in Russia it is .ru and so on. It doesn't mean other tlds are nonexistent. In every country, there is always an usage for many vanity tlds including .tv, .fm, .co, and .nu (in Scandinavian countries) along with their local cctld.

Comparing .co with the local cctld penetration is a joke. The usage of .com is negligible in Germany, but it doesn't mean .com has no value in Germany. There are markets for every vanity extensions in every nation, but the market is of course less compared to the giant extensions and the local cctlds.
