discuss CM .com reg. in 2015 ?!

Just watch on F1 Dutch Grand Prix & one of sponsors / support is CM.com so i decide to make some researches & found that is reg in 2015
How is possible this because far as i remeber the domain was not drop otherwise Dropcatch or Snapnames or other catch it & bids will go 6 figures
So how is possible this ?
They are reserved names by ICANN , Verysign ...that are sold to selected clients ?!

Once it was deleted it couldn’t be registered again. Verisign is forbidden from allowing two letter .com domain names to be registered. Domains that were previously registered are grandfathered, but once this domain was deleted, it couldn’t be re-registered.

however,

In 2014, a couple years after CM.com was deleted by the registrar, a company came out of the woodwork claiming it owned the domain name in the late 90s and the domain was stolen from its Network Solutions account. It sued Network Solutions to recover the domain name.

but the article hasn't been updated so it's unclear how it came to be allowed to be registered again. Lots of comments on it with further related links that could shed some more light.
