I joined the forum back in early 2016 and learned so much from everyone on this forum, who generously shared tips, strategy, their views, etc. Unfortunately for me, I've not been able to develop the acumen for choosing good names or the stomach for large investments (to me, anything above $500) into names that I think/suspect/guess/hope will bring a reasonable ROI good enough to call domaining a business.

With the EU's GDPR now in the mix, this is a good time for me to close out the domaining chapter. My newbie approach of outbound was reasonably profitable until contact info started disappearing from WhoIs directories, even without having found to a way to scale beyond my personal efforts like Federer seemed to do.

My energies are better spent on other pursuits that return a better, more stable ROI in the short- and longer-term.

I will not be renewing my membership here and don't know when is the last day available on this month's term.

I may lurk, I will not be able to post. So I wanted to say farewell to NPers. I have learned a lot, been entertained a lot, and hope I've contributed something--if only what not to do to be successful in domaining, lol!

I wish you all much success, much health.

Thanks!

Vivian

Vivian, you'll give it up for a while, but you'll be back! ;)

(Spoken from my own experience.)

GDPR is definitely changing things up, but this industry has always been progressive in nature and time will just move us all on to the next thing.

Either way, good luck and stick around. No, NP won't charge you for that!

Thanks, CT! It will be interesting to see what happens.

Hello Vivian,

As Josh pointed it out, so , you can stick around for free like me and many others.

As CrazyTech pointed it out, things have changed due to GDPR, but its definitely not the end of the road. Humans have always found a way to evolve. Things may seem to look a lil rough in the beginning but there are going to be ways out. Ask for it here, you will get many ideas.

like Federer seemed to do

Not everyone in the world is Federer whether it be domaining or tennis. But, you can certainly make your own place.

Quitting is the worst habit one can develop and it can reach a point where one even stops trying. Dont do that, you owe it to yourself more than anybody.

My energies are better spent on other pursuits that return a better, more stable ROI in the short- and longer-term.

If you really think so, gr8.

Have you tasted success there OR you think you will be successful there. You dont have to reply to this. Just ask yourself.

I wish you the best of luck and hope you find what you are looking for.

Regards

You could always try reducing your portfolio to a size/value you are comfortable with and then trying a passive approach with marketplace listings and landers. That is the way most NPers seem to go anyway :)

Hi VaibhavA,

Thank you for your good wishes. Yes, I am rather successful at what I do (been doing it for more than 20 years). In fact, using domains for my business and getting results is what made me look into domaining. I was looking for an opportunity to develop a second business.
