domain climcalc.com the .net sold for $9,101

Has anyone any ideas on

ClimCalc.com I think it might be climcal.net but i have climcal.com

The .net apprarently sold for $9,101 according to djnournal (Please see link below) Is it a type error on behalf of dnjournal at all?

If you go to archive.org ClimCalc.net has pages dating back to 1999. It was a site devoted to a climate change calculator and is now pointed to a mortgage page? .info,.biz, and .us aren't regged. He might have got it for the traffic? If the owner of the .net paid 9,100 you might want to see how much he'd pay for the .com. All other country codes are available so it could be only worth the reg fee.

I see, yes good thinking, From the info you have me i guess it was a expired domain that had traffic, Just a guess

That is sound advice.
Explain to him that all the traffic that typed ".com" could be his too.
After all .com is the most common and most known.
