Which one is better? Snap Names or Pool.com ? :yell:
I know GoDaddy's backordering service is really bad.

Pool WAS the Daddy
Godaddy was NEVER the Daddy.

SnapNames is now the Daddy judging by the regular sales as seen on DNJ.

As they are free to bid, use both SN and Pool and see what comes up.
its mainly to do with their affiliate network of registrars. Snapnames have Network Solutions, as an example. Pool have many smaller ones and definately dropped the ball about 18 months back when they changed their backordering system to a general outcry. They certainly lost my daily business.

Snap is a 9.7 on the richter scale whilst Pool is .872 on the scale.

The way to make sure you get the name is usually put it at all the drop catchers. I think Pool and Snapnames are almost equal and can't say which is the best of the two. Enom Clubdrop is another good place to backorder domains.

My top 3 dropcatchers for .com are
Pool, Snap, Enom Club Drop

I have not been lucky with Pool recently, while Snap caught me a few goodies for a small price ($60). Club Drop too from time to time.

For sure - Snap gets some great ones !

I have given up with Pool - I don't like the fact they email thousands of people to tell them the best names that are dropping !!

Pool has proven awful for me. Snap has done better, but I'd like to see them include .us domains. I haven't had any luck with GD as of yet.

So say I backorder the same domains in both Pool and Snap, which one do you think'll snatch it? :p

I signed up for Godaddy today simply for the .us domains. I watched a whole bunch of good ones slip right through me virtual fingers. I don't have any experience with the other two, sorry. I'll let you know how GD does in a few days.

Depends on where it's registered it, ie: network solutions is snap exclusive.

There was a site posted here awhile bsck that showed which registrars go to which drop services.

I presume that DD24 have a deal with Snapnames.com as they are affiliates. Would this be an indication of where their dropping names are available to backorder?

The most frustrating thing for me is when you catch one and it is registered by the most random small time registrar- some affiliates are a pain to transfer from, or even change the dns. Still, in my opinion, the best chance of getting a name at any cost is at snap, but all their good catches sell for huge amounts so you will be lucky to get anything unless you've got deep pockets. Pool and enom catch a few less in my experience, but you usually end up paying less there when you do get a name. As others have said- if you really want a specific name, order it with the main 3 (and GD if you can) and you should be in the running at least.
