Am I the only one that thinks these two companies together are complete garbage?

Aside from the fact that trying to promote a site to multiple countries is impossible with them.

You have expedia.com, expedia.co.uk, expedia.thisthatandtheother. How am I supposed to make a decent website marketing Toronto to Japan, UK, Europe, America and maybe the rest of Canada when I have to have an account for an Expedia in each country, AND setup the banners/whatever to market them to the correct people?
Didn't they hear about geo-targeting??

Why can't they just redirect my European guy to the European website instead of the American website?

I guess they're just trying to make my life 10x harder because they expect me to deal with a bunch of different Expedias just to promote to one potential customer. Let's face it, what good is a European customer inside an American website?

Secondly, what is up with all the websites for just a single affiliate account?
There's cj.com, befree.com, reporting.net and I'm supposed to navigate through all of them?
The designs are appalling. Where's the branding? Why does it have to be so hard to use and so hard to find anything?

Thirdly, what is up with all the dead links? It's pathetic!

This is certainly turning into a lot of hard work for very little reward. What was it, $1 or 1% on a flight? I can't even find out which is correct. There is apparently nowhere that tells me what I can earn on each sale...

I can't believe that Travelocity and lastminute affiliate programs are also run by these douchebags. >:(

//rant over

Anyone know of a company that has a good reputation, a good affiliate program with a decent, well managed affiliate area? I want the Expedia style interactive banners but without all the BS.

I just want to promote flights and hotels through my Toronto website. Is it really that big a deal? Does it have to be this hard? I also have a Vancouver website that I'm gonna have to go through all this crap again just to set the damn thing up.

I'm so mad right now. I don't have this trouble when I'm working on any other affiliate programs, it's only these dumb travel ones. >:(

Does anyone know if Air Canada has an affiliate program?

I have no doubt CJ is 100% garbage

Once you have started a campaign they simply send a message to say the advertiser is "deactivated" and any earning resulted from such effort is frozen

The worst is that not always warn you about those deactivations or expired links making any campaign useless anyway

I disagree 100%. :)

All Companies have their promotional campaigns, these deals or discounts they're advertising only last through a certain time frame..it's your responsibility to know when the campaigns expire (it even gives you an expiration date under the banner/links your going to use or in red bold "about to expire in 7 days." Also, the dead links are not CJ, it's the advertisers you're using. It states in the TOS about nonpayment for outdated promotions.

Why does it have to be so hard to use and so hard to find anything?

It's not hard. You type in keywords, relevant advertisers display, you click a link to join, and go get the banners/links.

This is certainly turning into a lot of hard work for very little reward. What was it, $1 or 1% on a flight? I can't even find out which is correct.

Pick higher paying affiliates. You can't complain about $1 per lead when it clearly states how much you earn per sale/lead before you signed up. The majority of affiliates for airfare only pay $1-$5 per sale/lead anyway (even outside CJ).

Why can't they just redirect my European guy to the European website instead of the American website?

This is your job to forward the appropriate traffic to the right site, not their's.

Try Linkshare. They have programs for travel, hotels, airfare, etc including Last Minute as you mentioned using. But, most pay $1-$5 per lead. LastMinute, Orbitz, and others pay up to $22 but that's for Cruises.

OK, maybe.... ;)

I still don't see a point. At $1/1% (whatever) for one flight spread over half a dozen Expedias, you need huge amounts of traffic/clicks just to reach the minimum payout for each Expedia.

Just seems totally pointless to me. They should combine all the Expedias into one account. I suppose it's not in their best interests though, while my money is in their account they get the interest and the use of it while I get nothing.

Not to mention the time and resources I have to spend managing my visitors so they hit the correct site, the correct offer, etc etc just to get a dollar.

Anyways....
