This is cingular's new phone. I kind of like it, but haven't seen one in person yet. Does anyone here have it? Do you like it?

Thanks,

Seanboy

I played with one at a Cingular store. Nice phone with a qwerty keyboard. Comes with TWO batteries - so said the salesperson. Because it needs them???

I ended up getting a BB Pearl instead - I can actually type with one hand. I couldn't do that on the BlackJack because it was just a bit too wide.

It is a good looking and is foreshadowing the "device" we will all be carrying in the future.

I got the Razr phone when it first came out. I'm not one for spending money on the "new" thing. But I had my old phone for 4+ years so it was time for an update. I went with what looked to be the best. I signed a two year contract, I had been on month to month, to get the phone for $199. Well, turns out the phone was junk, it broke twice for no apparent reason. I finally went back to an older more "reliable" phone. It doesn't have all the cool features but I could drop it off the roof :hehe: like I have done with my old nokia (which I really miss now). Now the Razr phones cost next to nothing and I'm still stuck in the two year contract (for a few more months).

So, I would say, if you can wait a little, do it, because the price will come down just like it did for the Razr, and I don't know how the reliability is for this phone. Just let a lot of other people buy first and see if they have problems with it :hehe: That's my two cents.

I have a RAZR right now, the built in browser is ugly and barely works, and there is no high-speed for the web. I've narrowed my next phone down to either;

1. Samsung BlackJack
2. Treo 750 (whenever Cingular decides to release it)
3. Blackberry Pearl (I think its only EDGE network though, is that true SirSpider?)

I need a good smartphone to test my mobi sites on, and the RAZR doesn't cut it.

I agree the RAZR browser is ugly. But I have a RAZR and am developing .mobi sites to work on that phone - because it is ENORMOUSLY POPULAR (check out OCM.mobi) on your RAZR). I do have the Pearl (with T-mobile, the RAZR is with Cingular) and can also test my mobi work on my daughter's (Verizon) Chocolate phone. There will be millions more "candy" phones online after this holiday season.

Yes, the T-Mobile Pearl is on the EDGE network, which is actually great for mobi-designed sites. Right now I am vacationing in Charleston, SC, and T-Mobile only has GPRS (right here where i am)--but this, too, is fine for properly developed .mobi sites.

What I like about the Pearl is that the browser is sophisticated enough that I can log into the control panel of my servers (C-Panel) and make "emergency" changes to a site--if needed. I tested that before I got the BB. I had also tried it with the SideKick, but that couldn't handle the frames that C-Panel uses.

if we are involved with .mobi, I believe it behooves us to build things that will work on whatever the masses are carrying around, not the latest-n-greatest that WE would like to have.

I've used Blackberry's for a couple of years and like them. I played with the Q for a couple of day's but just didn't like it. The BlackJack is cool, but it doesn't have a camera (if I remember). The Treo 700w is nice as well.

Right now the hot set up is the BB pearl. The only thing that sucks is it is exclusive to Cingular where I am.

The blackjack has a 1.3MP camera.

I think the deciding fact may be spped for me. The blackjack supports 3g speeds, and the bb pearl is only edge. Of course, there's the treo 750, but who knows when that will come out. Cingular keeps pushing it back. The treo 750 is a little on the big side, however. Decisions, decisions...:)
