I believe only short and easy-to-remember domain names are sustainable, regardless of where in the world you live and which cultural background you come from.

Now that the Chinese domain market has become a hot topic, I myself want to understand this trend too. Is there any real meaning behind each domain name sold in China? Here, I'd like to share with you what I've found as I read the Chinese news everyday.

GZX.com
GZX can stand for 更自信 (even more self-confident) which can be used in many fields such as education, self-help, and even consumer products to raise your self image.

XLY.com
XLY can stand for 夏令营 (summer camp) or 新领域 (new field) which can be used in recreation and high-tech products.

do english keywords work in the .cn extension for China?

For now, only simple English words such as bus, baby, etc. Long term, there is always a remote opportunity, for example, if .cn becomes global or there is a large English speaking community in China. Never say never.

I remember this sale because it shows different cultures result in different valuation of a domain name. In the west, du du is what your dog leaves on the grass. Back then it could probably get 4 or 5 figures, but someone from Dubai(?) paid $1m. That taught me value is very subjective. BTW, if you like the newsletter, please help by spreading the word. It'll certainly encourage me to write more. Thanks.

It taught me that value is very subjective also Kassey. I think that's exactly why you see such big numbers paid for certain Chinese pinyin names-the right large company will pay all the money for the right name-all the money.By the way-ive told everyone about your newsletter that has an interest in domains.

I know some well known investors bought MANY .ws and the company has opened an office in China. We own a couple like fangdichan.ws dadu.ws and others just in case this is the next one-Thank you.

Thanks Kassey-HuLianWangJia.com ( internet plus) was already taken by a China tech co so thats how we ended up with YinTeWangJia.com which by every translation method we used says the same thing. I may be incorrect but three different sources have "internet" as HuLianWang or YinteWang both meaning "internet" . Again-thank you for the reply.

XYK.com sold for 7 figures CNY while most 3I .com can only get 6 figures. Reason may be XYK represents big money businesses such as 信用卡 (credit card), 校园卡 (campus card), 心愿卡 (your wish card), 小鱼卡 (small fish card), and 下一课 (next class). >>

The name is technically correct, as shown in Baidu search, but I'm not sure about its commercial value.

Thank you Kassey-"technically correct" is good enough for us on a name that says "internet plus" which is actually the new IoT of China. If im correct there's only really three good ways to say it "hulianwangjia" "wangluojia" and ours "yintewangjia.com" Two of the three are owned by Chinese tech companies-we own the other one. We like our chances.

Very interesting re: .mobi We sold WIZ.mobi way too cheap last year but caught c88.mobi on a drop becasue we saw that many LLL.mobi are being bought right up as they drop and pretty much evey great pinyin name re: caifu lvxing etc is taken in .mobi-do you think this extension can bounce back?
