Hi guys,

this is something that boggles my mind... How can someone on e-bay sell a few thousand domain names every few months... and keep doing it for a living... and the domains are only selling for between $0.99 - $9.00 !

So how can that person make any cash??

Is there a place where u can buy new .com registrations for less than $5? or something like $1 - $3 per domain?

Would like to hear your opinions!

thanx...

Domain resellers. You can litterally reg domains for $6 at name.com and turn around and sell them for $10 that day. Do that 1000 times in a month you got 4k on your hands.

As for the ebay auctions those domains those people have they prolly got for REALLY REALLY cheap and they prolly take some losses as well.

Actually, it's $5.99 @ Name.com ;) You save an extra 1 cent :red: :tu:

Interesting. This sort of questions and replies should have been already stickied---both for the easing directions of domain buyers and for the space saving of Domain Name Discussion Board.

Not every product in a retail store is profitable, a retailer may offer an item below cost to attract business. Same on the web, although the seller may take a loss on some domains othe names within their portfolio will hopefully sell at much higher prices.

Good sellers don't charge anything to move domains into another domain account of the same registrar.

As far as this thread goes I can't understand how a particular one seller on ebay (0.99c auctions) keeps selling names, that seller is 'syntheticrhyme' they have a lot of names for not much money and the ones that sell for more look to be few and far between from the feedback, the amount of work pushing into all the customers godaddy accounts would be overwhelming, unless they had super cheap labor

To me it looks like Sytheticrhyme is a person with a large trust fund and is somehow compelled to continuously sell names no matter how much they lose. I know this is not the case but 'syntheticrhyme' is one of the 7 wonders of ebay as far as I can see

A bit over $6.00 the registrars selling for under $6.00 are selling at a loss, but they ususally have other things in place to charge you more later as far as I know, the ones making a loss on the initial registration try to hook you in

Although I have never used name.com I have heard 'very' not so good things about them on namepros, same with other cheap registrars like 1+1 I have heard to stay away from these registrars

Name is the cheapest. They offer free privacy protection as well.

If you are looking for a really cheap registrar then Yahoo offers this service.
