Do you think there is a changing of the guard ???

It seems country codes are becoming the first choice with many domainers and developers

Many country codes listed in the top 20 at dnjournal this week

Do you think people are searching for their own country codes in preference to a .com

I think they are ....... your thoughts ?????

.com will always have its place as the one that can cater to the whole world, the way to promote your brand worldwide. I don't see a competition between .com's and the cctld's, but more a differentiated way of branding your presence.

I agree that country codes are gaining in popularity and they should.

I voted "No". It appears that the majority of well advised corporations are remaining cautious in regards to ccTLDs.

In addition, many companies start at ccTLD and graduate to .com after growing traffic, and/or LEARNING of the tremendous pitfalls possible in the wild west of the ccTLD. These include, a complete lack of price control (see .SC), and scammers misleading consumers in the marketing of ccTLD (see .LA).

Most businesses are not international, nor do they want to be international.

While .com will always be accepted, ccTLD's in many markets are becoming the preferred extension without question.

I think many businesses who would have thought of themselves as local only a few years ago now see international sales as an important sideline.

lots of businesses do want a ccTLD, but almost all of them would like the .com as well.

Id say 75% of business addresses in the UK seem to use .co.uk, rather than .com

In saying that, I prefer the almighty .com ;)
