We are in the Information Age, but is it time for the AGE OF PRIVACY?

There has been much discussion in the domain community regarding escrow companies demanding ID's. The push back seems to be about PRIVACY. Certain country codes do not allow PRIVACY in the WHOIS and many people have spoken up regarding.... In other news, TechCrunch regularly posts articles regarding PRIVACY in relation to social media and the Information Age. In 2010 Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerburg stated the "AGE OF PRIVACY is over." I disagree with him on this subject and feel the push back for more PRIVACY is just starting. The "AGE OF PRIVACY" is now here, just beginning. The fingers run deep with this subject...Do you feel there is now a push back from society on the issue of Privacy? Has it gone too far and has the people had enough?

The golden age of freedom and privacy is behind us I'm afraid. But it doesn't have to be that way. Fight.
By the way Zuckerberg is an hypocrite, like politicians: he wants privacy for himself, but he doesn't value your own. You're just a product. Remember, when a service is free, you are the product usually.

I completely agree Kate. Zuck wants PRIVACY in his life, but sells out regarding the public's privacy. Absolutely he is the definition of a hypocrite.

I think it is a generational thing.

Younger people seem to care less about privacy and older folks seem to value it more.

So both answers to the poll above are correct.

I think the push back is more about exposing personal information to identity theft.

Privacy is important too, but the real problem people seem to have is giving out photos of ID's, bank statements, etc. to these companies to keep stored on their servers where they could be stolen.

Look. As long as long there are secrets , there is going to be need of privacy. Look some people want ro hide their name or lookout and so want to keep it as private there is nothing wrong in that and i think people should respect that
