For some reason my computer has gone to running ANSI instead of Ascii , i have no idea why other than the quotation marks are not accepted as being code when i try and do some coding ??

I did a Ftp and got an alert "server does not support non-ascii" Then i went to the library to use another computer and worked on a file i had saved on a Usb only to see it revert to save as ANSI when i had finished so i guess i am wondering how this happened but more to the point how to change it back on a mac ? I am doing some googling but have not found the answer as yet so i thought it may be worth asking here
