I think this will be good. A certified trader certificate. Here is what this basically is.

A certified trader is someone who has no neutral or negative comments. He has atleast 10+ trader points. If he has 10 positive trader points he can be a certified trader by paying 1000NPS or whatever you think is appropriate. Or maybe the 1000Nps stay with the bank. The money 1000 is yours but bank holds on to it like an escrow service.

I think a certified trade would be a great idea as it would promote business in Name Pros, and many people here are new. So whenever they are buying at namepros they can have atleast some sort of assurance that the buyer will pay.

For ex. my first trade at namepros was buying a 7.95 enom account for 25 bucks from alien. I was kind of nervous of paying 25 bucks to someone i have no clue about. but if someone is a certified trader, they can have some assurance that the seller or buyer is trustworthy.

We can increase the requirements for whatever they are neccessary.

what do u think? there may need to be changes and all but it would be a great idea for business at namepros.:gl:

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

The trader ratings provide information on the buyer/sellers transactions. I think that is enough.

Biggest problem is the trader ratings are only used by a few.
So they have liitle meaning at this point.

yes, trader rating stats is good but it would be an excellent add on.

Any certification that an be bought with NP$ (or real $) dilutes its value.

I like the trader rating system at NP as it is.

Any system is as good and effective (or otherwise) as we, the members, make of it. I suggest we all rate each and everyone of our transactions, and let the results speaks for itself over time.

In my books, a customer supplied positive rating has the greatest and real value -a value that no "purchased" certificates or trader-ratings can ever provide.

just my 2c...

And, I believe something RJ has had planned all along and as the Rating system evolves and matures. Thanks to everyone for continuing to make sure that they do, in fact, leave respective Buyer/Seller Ratings (in the Profiles) after completed transaction(s), and as part of the overall Namepros closing (Buy/Sell) routine.

We are (and have been) requesting that folks please take the time to leave the respective Buyer/Seller *ratings* after EVERY completed transaction ... I think we are still getting used to this routine, IMHO. A "Certified Trader" or something along these lines will come with further progression of the current system, as well as possibly an overall "Trader Stats List" (as noted above) or something of this nature.
We will expand on this at the appropriate time, for sure. For now, please be sure to include this important step in the Closing "process" ... I have seen a LOT of effort in this regard of late, honestly. And, these will be integral with some of the Sales-oriented enhancements that are being tested and fine-tuned at this time! :)
Thanks for the suggestion here, Webtwink.

It would not be too hard for this system to be duped. What if some group decides to 'shill' trade with each other just to boost their trader status for ill gains?

Perhaps the certificate idea could entail some sort of measure to help better indentify a trader. For instance, NamePros, or a sub commitee of, could verify a trader's personal info. They could keep stuff like phone numbers and addresses on file.

I agree

With this idea excellent.

Yes, anyone half-serious about defrauding can do shill trades with friends (or his own multiple accounts), and more measures should be taken to maintain the integrity of the rating systems (taking a cue from eBay, this is hard at best), but better than none at all.

Certification is an interesting and noble attempt though imho still falls short of making any serious resolution to this, when the current system is fine as is and it would take something more significant than mere certification to address the above issues significantly.

I think it would be helpful to somehow have the trader rating window pop up after a sale to remind people about it.

Wouldnt giving someone a Certificate put the certificate issurer at risk or make them responsable for the actions of that certified member?

I dont think I would want to be the one handing these certs out :)

Pretty good Idea i believe.
another way to build up the community and would help with sales both in and out of the Namepros community.
For example - People selling domains on ebay for example to say they are both a power seller and a certified domain seller by NamePros. "click here to view certificate" or something like that.

I've never used escrow.com so I don't know if they do this already. I see at their website that they require a name to be transfered the old way; that is, they don't account for the push system that most registrars now allow. Is this right?

I think there is an opportunity for an escrow company willing to allow traders to use pushing in their sales. This, accompanied with some sort of bonding certification could serve this industry well.

Of course the people doing this sort of thing will have to invest in a bit of insurance coverage but the payoff would be great. I guess this is more of a general business idea than something NP would care to take on.

Anyone care to start up a business?
