I guess I don't understand... How does it convert the iPod into a personal computer? You can store files and programs on it without a special program. (Or at least I thought you could...)

It can, I have a lot of non-music or video files backed up on my Ipod without any special software.

An mp3 player such as an ipod is mainly just a hard drive with firmware installed etc. You can store anything you want on it.

I use a 2GB USB thumb drive with U3 technology and it works great. It has my Firefox settings, open office and a bunch of other stuff. It's very convent.
