I guess I'll transfer my thread into here . Took so long to type it up that you posted one in the meanwhile !

Well guys, the 2-month long NHL Playoffs came to an end yesterday. For the second straight season, a Canadian team made it to the finals. For the straight season, it was a team from Alberta. For the second straight season, the Canadian team was down 3-1 and came back to force a 7th and deciding game. And unfortunately, for the second straight season the Canadian team lost the game, and for the second straight season, a team that had never won a cup wins the Stanley Cup!

Interesting, eh?

Carolina and Edmonton played their hearts out all season and post-season. Carolina was impressive throughout the year, finishing first or second in the conference. Edmonton, meanwhile, barely made it to the 8th and final spot, but they fought their way through to the finals, only to lose their goalie, who undoubtedly was their MVP till then. But their backup goalie held on, the battered up skaters on both teams put on a show, and it was VERY exciting to watch.

So much promise from both these teams. The youngsters were awesome! Horcoff, Stall, Williams, WARD, etc. !

Cam Ward ... well ... he's Cam Ward! This guy is a ROOKIE! Played AWESOME in net throughout the playoffs, and wins a cup and the Conn Smythe for playoff MVP ...

IN HIS ROOKIE SEASON !

What a show, what a game.

Now I'll wait till the draft (on the 24th I think) and watch the World Cup of Soccer!

What a wonderful sports-year !

It was a great series indeed and I'm glad Carolina won as I don't really care for the Oilers.

The Bobcats will eventually be Champs with Jordan part owner of the team now.

Panthers have won the Conference and Division Championship, does that count? :D

I live in south carolina so I was pulling for them. not much of a hockey fan, but had to pull for hometown team.

Edmonton should have won Go Canada GO! (next year for sure!) :hehe:

But Carolina obviously did their best and paid off handsomely... so hats off to the first ever stanley cup for them!

... Edmonton! Oh well, atleast a team like detroit or Colorado did not win. I was getting sick and tired of watching them win. A Canadian team will get it next year for sure, although it wont be my frigen Canucks. Good job Caroina on your first Stanley Cup, it was well deserved!

I agree that it is good to see that Detroit or Colorado did not win. I do not follow Hockey a whole lot, but something I like about it is the fact that it seems alot like the NFL, where the next year, any team can come from the dust and win.

This is unlike say baseball, where some teams are always expected to make and do well in the playoffs.
