What's up.

I run TTT - and I am trying to figure something out.

Google has a search feature link:URL and it will show you all of the pages that link to that site... however when I run a search on:

link:TTT

and

link:TTT

I get no results - but just googling shows that I have sites that link to me?

How does this work?

Thanks,

MatroCka

Google likes to "hide" links from you. They'll show up eventually... They have them all, just won't show them.

Use the Yahoo! Site Explorer instead to get accurate info.

link commands aren't supposed to show you every link that google has to your website. this helps to protect you from your competitors.

I suggest you use webmaster tools to check your backlinks. The link: operator only shows a sample of the backlinks that a site has. Also, if your sit is a new one, then you may have to wait for some time as google do not update links that appear in result of link:.

I see 30 backlinks for one of my sites via link:-, where in google webmaster tools, I see 20K+ backlinks for the same site.

Google might only show any important links to your site, although you actually have thousands of backlinks.

dnfame.com shows your listing on search engines but you won't see it.
much exhaustive than link: command in google

That is the result of difference between 'Google Command' and 'Google query'. Without the 'link:' command Google takes this as search query.

Yes, SE for Yahoo shows that nicely. However you need to make sure the site linking to you is cached to count as a backlink (not sure if that is correct maybe non-cached also counts, just from general understnding :) )
another method to see your backlinks is
to go to yahoo.com and search
for example lets take tl.my (mine:yell:)
just type the following
linkdomain:tl.my -site:tl.my
thats an alternative way. cheerio
