Can renewals be refundable?

Hi all,

I forgot to take autorenewal off a few unwanted .info domains and they got renewed, I contacted the registrar (Alpnames) the same day asking to cancel the renewal, they say they're not refundable. Are there any ICANN rules regarding refunds for renewals?

I have had a similar situation today where I forgot to turn off auto-renew with a registrar.
The thing is the domains don't expire till the 5th May and I have been CC charged today the 27th April.
The registrars say nothing can be done with regards to a refund.
Is this right? Is it worth taking it up with the CC company.

Depends on the registrar. For example, Rebel.com charges you for auto-renewal very early, but you can email them and get your refund.
