I'm just getting hooked on .tvs but am a bit confused about premium domains...
I've heard about dropped names becoming premium. Is it also possible for a name to change to premium and for the renewal price to rocket after you have registered it (at standard reg fee)?

This is what I can tell you. Any name registered at Godaddy (or any non-enom registrar) including expired domains purchased from TNAM will not have a premium renewal. Unless you consider $39.99 a premium renewal.
Names that are currently registered with eNom that are non-premium will remain that way. The domain registrant (owner) does not need to worry about the name becoming a premium. Currently, premium names renew at their original price.
The confusing part is that there have been reports that some drops that originally were non-premium have now been listed as premium. I do not know if this is the case.
