If they own the .com it's likely that the .net/.org were available when they registered their name and they did not really bother. You will be wasting your time. On the other hand if YOU own the .com... but be careful

I think regarding Celebs it can sometimes get out of hand, Spike Lee would be an example, he began to believe that he somehow had rights to "Spike" and tried to stop a tv company using Spike in their name.
I understand though that it can get complicated in other cases and best avoided if your aware that your stepping on trademarked toes.
