Can anyone explain this reg anomaly?

I had tryed to reg few domain through my ususal registrar (domainsite)I performed a search 2 days ago and these domains were free.
Yesterday I wanted checked again but I couldn't see any result because they were saying that the server for .com and .net were temporarly down.
I went to go daddy and I found the server for .com and .net
were up and running, and the names still free.
Few minute ago I checked again at domainsite and these names resulted taken.
I checked at whois.sc and they result free....
What to do? Should I try to reg them?
What does it mean?

i had the same problem at domainsite yesterday. try and reg them. that is what i did

It sounds like they've already been taken. Try searching for availability using
the larger registrars like netsol or go daddy, see what their results show.

I think GWB has the NSA tracking you and all of your registrations. :hehe:

But in reality I would say it's more along the lines of a problem on the core registries end (Verisign). I registered several names and for nearly 48 hours the names showed available in alot of places including internic.

whois.sc is showing cached whois info so it's best to use Internic or a registrar with direct registry access (Enom or many others for that purpose) in order to get live domain status
