I was wondering, if a buyer wanted to buy my domain can the buyer order an appraisal? Or does the owner of a domain have to order the appraisal.

The reason why I'm asking this is that I've received 3 emails asking me to sell my domain and they are asking me to order the appraisal.

The way I look at it, if they want to buy wouldn't they want to order the appraisal.

Why would I have to pay for it?

Any insight to this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Just tell them that you are willing to sell it for xxx because of the x benefits.
You will not accept anything lower than xxx.

Give them your phone number to contact and ask them for theirs.

Tell them the offer is valid for x days and you look forward to closing the deal within those x days.

sounds like the classic appraisal scam. What is the opening line of the email?

Here's the entire contents of the email.

Dear sir,

we are interested to buy your domain name A2ZMARKET.COM and offer to buy it from you for 65% of the appraised market value.

As of now we accept appraisals from either one of the following leading appraisal companies:

sedo.com
pedma.com
accuratedomains.com

If you already have an appraisal please forward it to us.

As soon as we have received your appraisal we will send you our payment (we use Paypal for amounts less than $2,000 and escrow.com for amounts above $2,000) as well as further instructions on how to complete the transfer of the domain name.

We appreciate your business,

Thanks,
Robert Smith

It seems to me it's a cookie cutter email because 3 days later, I got the same exact verbiage from another dude but the other one had one more appraisal company listed.

I would mail back with the price you want for the domain, telling them that paid appraisals are a waste of money, then forget about it. If they are genuine, they will get back to you for negotiation.

Definitely a scam. They always say they will buy it for a % of the appraised value.

Thats a scam, they want you to pay for the apprsial and then you never hear from them again. I have gotten the same one. think about it a2zmarket has little to no value so why would anyone want an apprasial.

Send them back an email and tell them I just appraised your domain for $1,000,000.00 and ask them to send you $650,000.00

p.s. The emails you are getting are part of a scam with you as the target. Put them in the trash can and move on.

Do not even bother replying unless you want to have some fun with them.

100% scam, use the search on namepros for "appraisal scam" and you will see tens of threads about these kind of emails.

It is Definitely A SCAM.

Similar Situation, or even worse situation has come to me with an offer for my Domain, Goshoppingindia.com . The entire contents of the Conversation is enclosed in the attachment I have placed. But the fact is that, I have traced the IP Address of the sender using the IP Tracker. And the results were even more shocking.

Results of IP Tracking for 64.202.165.22
IP address ------- 64.202.165.22
Hostname ------- smtpauth16.prod.mesa1.secureserver.net
ISP ------- GoDaddy.com, Inc.
Country ------- United States

So, I traced the email address to give Complaints about the Scam and also send the reports to [email protected] and [email protected] .
Lets hope that GoDaddy will rectify this issue and no one will have troubles in the future.

That is exactly a scam, the scammer owns both the 2 sites & is adding Sedo to add credibility to the email.
