Hi,
Over the last few months i have seen the subject of buying traffic being mentioned by a few members on this forum so i'd like to ask a quick question related to starting a new site.

Let's say i am starting a new you tube clone but only for Videos of Highland dancing for example. Can i buy traffic ONLY for the keywords "Highland Dancing " or "Highland Dancing videos" or similar??

I have looked on many of these sites where you can buy traffic but they all seem to simply ask for you to pick a category like Sports, Business, Finance....etc I guess i could pick a category like "Entertainment" or something else that is someway related to my site content but then most of the traffic will be a waste as only a niche crowd will continue to view my site.
If my site is very specific then can i buy traffic for my specific keywords??

I hope i explained that correctly, any advice from those who have bought traffic before would be great.
I have Emailed some of the sites where you can buy traffic with this exact question but have not had a reply yet so i thought id ask you guys.

IF you can buy this type of keyword traffic then it could be a great way to get some users on to the niche content sites many of us have.

Nearly all Pay Per Click traffic that you can buy is done by keyword. So you can pick what keywords you want your listing to appear. Google Awords, Yahoo, MSN etc plus the 2nd tiered PPC search engines all go by keyword.

Ronnie,

Beside tech work, this is what I do all day is managing and optimizing our ad campaigns. At Respond, I also co-managed the budget including our contractor categories. So I have experience bidding keywords are related to cranes.tc.

If you are planning on running a pay per lead model as we discussed, I can get you past the 'traps' it took two years and a couple million in wasted dollars for me to figure out.

Email me any questions and I will be happy to answer them this weekend.

i was not meaning PPC traffic as this is already part of my strategy & i understand that well, i was thinking more about the websites/companies who say they can send you traffic from expired domains or pop unders....etc

They quote figures like 10,000 uniques for $25 or similar & ask you to pick a category like Auto, Sales, Business....etc
Does anyone use such services, are they worth trying??

George i will Email you later as i am planing the Pay per lead system we spoke about (i dont begin til April though so im trying to make plans before then)

Thanks,
Ronnie

I tried one of those sites once, the traffic was utterly worthless.

Ronnie, I just tested a site driving traffic from old wedding domains to BanquetFacilities.com. If you want to pump up your stats, it is a nice quick fix to fake like you have alot of traffic.

http://siteanalytics.compete.com/banquetfacilities.com/?metric=uv

That was the Jan spike.

However, the conversion from the traffic to leads was zero. If it doesn't generate leads, it is worthless to me.

most of the companies selling traffic are scams. you will find that it is automated traffic and often bots.
there is no shortcut or else everyone would be taking it.
good content and links drive traffic
paying for targeting traffic through adwords, yahoo and so on will drive traffic
