Buying traffic/link exchange ok with AdSense

I'm new to AdSense and want to be very careful as I know they have been notorious for closing accounts. I was wondering if buying traffic to my site would be a violation of adsense TOS? obviously, there would be a huge increase in traffic when I bought it, and this might look bad to google - any thoughts?

Is this with an autohits program? If yes, no.

Adsense doesn't allow hits with autohit sites.

However, if you're buying banner spaces and buying links on individual sites, that should be fine.
