Im currently buying 4 domains from someone who told me they are at Godaddy, but now on looking at the Whois, i find they are at Moniker. When questioned about this they say no problem they will transfer them and will register them for another year also.

My question is, Is this possible to transfer them and rereg them straight away? Also what if they push them into my account after payment and they are not rereged? Can i push them back and request a chargeback from Paypal?

Basically i have sent them an email to the whois email address and if i dont get a reply im certainly not going through with the transaction. They are currently speaking to me through a forum with a different email address for Paypal payment. This is the second transaction this week ive had for very cheap domains, so i almost suspect im pushing my luck. :-/

Just received an email from the owner....He is not offering them for sale!BUSTED. User name ManKat at Sitepoint, be warned. 8-X

Seems like the seller has raised a lot of red flags to me. I am not sure it is worth the effort.

If the domain is priced suspiciously low - always use caution and use your best judgment. Beware that scammers exist in our industry and always practice due diligence.

Domainers can make mistakes about things where domains are registered, but this one sounded very suspicious. You did exactly the right thing in asking questions and not taking their word for things. Never trust anyone unknown...

But to answer your questions, it only makes sense for the seller to renew if they have expired. Sometimes you can push an expired domain, but generally not. And you can ususally push a domain back to a user as well.

If you transfer a domain it is more complicated. But sometimes a user can reverse a push to an account, which can be bad, but I don't think it's possible to reverse a transfer. It's best to make sure you are dealing with a good person to avoid these kinds of situations.
