Does anyone frequently use the loophole of registering a domain then cancelling it within five days to obtain a refund..?
I’ve never looked into it and think there is something a little unethical about it, but can see the attraction when comes to testing out domains for traffic..!

hmmm,

anyone or anyone here ?
There are 1000 to 1000000 such transactions daily, mostly big players.
I think there is nothing unethical
a) Verisign know that, and dont do anything against that
b) Its just looking for whats needed on markt
b) When you buy car, you can drive before you buy, so why not domains too ;)

Its called "tasting". You can reg a domain and park it for a few day's to see if it has any traffic. If it has traffic, you keep it, if it doesn't you de-reg it. All you have to pay is .25 to ICANN for a re-stocking fee.

Some registrars have gotten so good at it that they will reg almost any name that gets dropped. If they make more than .25 on the domain they are in profit. Your numbers can get pretty high when you are catching several thousand domains a day/week.

Ok.., I need to stop being a square pants, throw any morals out the window and attempt a little bit of tasting simply for educational purposes.. !!

How can you successfully cancel a domain with Godaddy as they claim not to provide any refund for cancellations..?
Thanks again
