Hi everyone-

**Maybe I'm just paranoid....but....

I was wondering what you all would do if you received an inquiry or an offer for a domain name from someone with a free e-mail account, such as hotmail. Also, would you be at all worried if you received a paypal payment from a company that uses a hotmail e-mail address?

Your feedback will be greatly appreciated...

Thanks!

That depends.. I still use a free email account with all my ebay purchases.. I had a Hotmail account for years.. just started using Gmail, but I still use the free emails in preference to my other ones.

yes.. most of people still uses free email account i also do..

in my personal thoughts..sometime site can be down.. so email will not work.. thats why free email account is right choice..

when u get paypal payment just check his feedbacks.. rather email account type.. if he has no feedback or not verified member.. then think twice

I like the free accounts due to privacy, and I must admit that as a buyer I use them (gmail and hotmail).
Now that being said, I am highly suspicious if someone claiming to have $,$$$ to spend uses hotmail. Is that almost hypocritical of me? Yeah, probably ;) But it does make me feel better when the address is [email protected] and "thename" is in the whois on thecompany.com . Make sense?
Now online payment companies are a whole 'nother ball game... but I don't trust them (PayPal), no matter what the e-mail address is.

well, I would be suspicious of a company using hotmail or another free email provider but not an individual.

Free e-mail providers such as Hotmail and Google offers a service which in many cases is more stable than many paid e-mail hosts and some buyer might like to be anonymos in the pre-sale phase.

:bingo: I've lost more data over the years in "Paid" Storage by far than "Free" as far as Email Goes ...

Thanks for your feedback, all... B-)

Maybe I am a tad paranoid, but it's still odd to see a company using free e-mail. I've heard so many horror stories that it makes me a bit nervous...

not a company, i would want a company email if they were a company, but if he is an individual and has a history with that email (paypal, ebay etc.) there's nothing wrong with it.

In my experience enquiries from an anonymous email address are less likely to lead to a sale as I have found that any serious company / individual will use their traceable email address and generally the more contact info provided, the more serious I find the potential buyer.

Having said that my last sale was to a Yahoo.com address and when I insisted on knowing the identity of the person I was doing business with, they paid using Paypal and Melbourne IT as their agent, so clearly they were determined not to let me know who had purchased the name.

Agree.

I dont take Hotmail etc... emails too seriously, all I ever get mostly from these free email services is Spam. I use my own Domain when sending out email, I dont own/use any free email accounts.

I almost always use my free email account at Gmail when I send an email, or buy something through payapal. Yes, I do have other email addresses with sites that I own, but I think the features of Gmail are a lot better than paid email addresses. Also, I agree with everyone else, that I check a person's reputation, and contact information, but not their email address when completing a PayPal transaction.
