I've gone on a mini-buying spree as today is Black Friday. As a result, I've picked up some singular/plural name pairs like BloodPill.com and BloodPills.com. I'm going to offer these as buy one, get one free offers. Do you think this is a good idea, or should one sell them individually? I picked up both, as there is not much point in trying to sell the singular for good money,if the plural is available for reg fee.

2 for 1 interesting idea. I like it, yes, in a way it complements the Black Friday fever.

It’s good but hard to do. I’ve thought of the same thing. Logistically how do you do it other than if you are able to communicate with the buyer immediately? and even then it is after the inquiry on one of the domains has already landed that you have the opportunity to explain the offer to him.

I can think of a way to do it but not for marketplace listings that I do not control myself. I can obviously do it on my own unique per domain landing pages.

The point being that the earlier the buyer knows about the offer the more impact it will have. If he doesn’t find out about it until after the deal is closed then you will have gained nothing.

You can do it on your own landing page or mini-site firly easily. The difficulty comes when you are selling via an registrar's market site with an automatic push on after payment. I think the best way to handle this is by selling the primary name in the normal fashion, and then performing a free push after a buyer request. This could be explained on the landing page.

The biggest problem will be in getting a suitable pair of names - singular and plural is an obvious joice, but I've only got 3 such pairs in the whole of my portfolio. I did try hyphen and non-hyphen, but the hyphen was a non-starter, most people seem to welcome some other ownership so that they can pick up a bit of leaked traffic. :) com and net is another pair, but nets are too expensive, and I don't think they are worth it any more.

com + org maybe

However, if the pair doesn't sell, your holding cost doubles !

Usually if the domain and its exact plural in the same extension are both available for hand reg we’re talking about very low end real estate.

I picked up ScrapCarMan.com, and ScrapCarsMan.com for under $10, and I can probably sell those locally for £250-£1,000 via personal contact. It would make a great logo on a recovery truck, and it's memorable. The plural is probably redundant, but it might make the deal more attractive. It all help me to build up my Bitcoin balance. :)

Keep us posted on that scrap deal. Lol.

I might keep it, and start collecting scrap cars if they are going to ban diesels in the UK. I've got an A-frame in the garage. :)

Car/cars , man/men, woman/women

I think you've opened a can of worms :)

I would do this if & only the keyword is super hot. Otherwise I would be content to pick the better one and let someone else to pick the less one to make some less profit. If no one pick the other version, then it's probably not good enough to get both.
I know hugedomain would disagree with me.

I hope that I can get this thread moved to a more suitable board. It isn't about the appraisal of any individual name(s)

One of my reasons for starting it comes from the frequent offers I get fom other domainers. They are asking me to buy a pair of one of my names. I had one arrive this morning offering me the plural of a two word keyphrase .com name.

Just my 2 cents on where to add the "Plural"

ScrapCarMen = Multiple men selling scrap cars (or get rid of someone named Carmen -- lol)
ScrapCarsMan = One Man who sells Scrap Cars

I also like to get singular/plural (when it makes sense). I've closed a couple of deals over the years being able to offer the Pair when an inquiry came in on one of the names. It was like a bonus to the buyer, and I offered the "pairing" name after negotiating and as a bonus to close the deal...

Regards,
DN
