Andy,

Lets review these names. Without a doubt solid keywords. Lets first throw out the .com.tw - this is merely a third level or subdomain, which in all honestly, is almost valueless... The only successful subdomain is .co.uk..

If we review Businesses.vg we must first explore the extension, as everyone must admit the keyword is strong. Looking through comparable sales records (see sig!)... we find that .vg's do not sell well. Infact, I have only 3 listed in our database... the highest price being paid was 1k for sms.vg - considering this, the likelyhood of finding an end-user for this undeveloped domain name is going to be long and hard.. infact, more than likely impossible.

My recommendation as you are new to the boards and it appears domaining, is try to stick with .com - Yes, most solid names are already registered... but if you stay ahead of the crowd, you can find some great deals and even some nice expiring domains for registration fees...

And if I wasn't involved in the Business Directory industry I would not have found value in them either.

But plz read on and look at my plan.

I run a business directory called linkspub . com and everybody thinks its some type of seo gig.

I got the idea from manufacturers . com . tw which gets 100k uniques from the U.S. alone p/month.

A site where the world can find Chinese Businesses. I mean what better name then businesses . com .tw maybe cn but tw is also ROC.

And I've already got most of the programming done, and Chinese Businesses are eager to find new leads & I'm sure people around the globe seek business sources in China.

So basically the site is going to connect them two together.


I mean think on an end user level instead of a domain seller or buyer level. If you were looking for businesses in Taiwan or China,

Would you look thru Businesses.com.tw on the contrary, if u were looking for businesses in the uk, would u go to businesses.co.uk

I mean I'm not trying to sell it, but trying to see if the domain is a logical choice for connecting China & Taiwan businesses with the rest of the world.

Andy, would these domain names work for connecting global business? Yes. Are they the best possible names to get? Eh...

The issue here is perception... its the perception of who your doing business with. Would you prefer to deal with an American/European company that is connecting you to business in Asia or would you prefer an Asian company thats connection you with other asian companies?

I think I prefer the idea of working with someone locally who has the contacts... and I believe the TLD's may give off the wrong impression, and may seem even more "foreign"...

Could it work? Absolutely... Im sure you can take just about any decent domain name and make it work... Im not sure Ive heard of stories about .vg or com.tw - but I think you need to research the registries, and make sure there legit... you would hate to build a wonderful site and then lose your domain name...

I think your definetly breaking into some global economies, and it could work very well for you.... good luck, does this change "value" of the domain? Nope... It will need development to be valueable...
