Building Your Domain Into A Million Dollar Asset

Building your domain into an asset is all about building brand value. What is brand value? Well, brand value goes beyond the simplicities of generic keywords, and analytics. Rather, brand value encourages user viewership & retention, which obviously converts into dollar revenue.

A good example of how to build brand value into a domain would be WoodPellets.com(formerly PelletSales.com). To begin with, this company choose to rebrand their company around a market-specific name that would strategically target their primary consumer base. Of course, like any good investment, money is involved and thusly PelletSales Inc purchased WoodPellets.com for a hefty $115,000.00.

The obvious benefits

With their new corporate identity, WoodPellets.com was now in position to grow and expand their company brand as the term "wood pellets" offered a generous 200% increase in market-reach in the U.S and Ireland.

More Brand Value

And probably one of the most important things that WoodPellets.com did to solidify it's brand value was to purchase the toll-free number 1-800-Pellets. Naturally, this would give the more brand awareness and position them to leverage the power of both the Internet & Telephone marketing combined!

The results.... In 2008, this company netted around 35,000,000 million dollars after expenses.

Something tellls me their expense to reach $35M in sales was more than a $115,000 domain.

The domain isn't the key asset here. It's the company behind the domain.

WoodPellets.com is the company behind the name. They now represent a brand!

In this case, they transformed a static business name(PelletSales.com) into a brand name. This was done by aligning themselves with 'all things specific' to wood pellets, which also included the domain name (woodpellets.com) + toll-free number (1-800-Pellets), which are used in connection with its both online & offline ad-copy.

The instantly memorable toll-free number and easy-to- remember URL (WoodPellets.com) created a valuable brand image within the BIOMass sector.

What's the point...... The domain did became a greater asset in the overall scheme of things by offering its consumers a one-stop location, accessible via a single phone number and Web address.

Thanks for your response.
