status-monitor Browser tab notification for unread alerts

I wonder if it'd be possible/sane to implement a browser tab notification for Namepros for unread alerts?
Doesn't need to be fancy, just a numerical sum total of:
unread DM + unread alerts

I found this:

I've never worked with xenforo so no idea if you can just hook or slide code in, or if addons are safe/sane etc.
