That would create turmoil.

Turmoil? Do you mean despondency?

I can't value your information before it is released. But the prime rival releasing sales data that buyers and sellers have agreed on to be private would create turmoil.

Sales data that prove questionable business practice would also naturally create turmoil.

Despondency is in the eye of the beholder.

BB sales are now public. They have sold tags published on their site.

I'm thinking that may be within the buyer/seller agreements, but further public announcements not? There have been concerns in this thread about the damage it could do to business if buyers who want to remain anonymous are revealed.

Sure would like to share but we don't have enough information yet as to what exactly is going on. Will definitely update this thread when we are sure without a doubt. Otherwise it's mere speculation. What we can do right now if allowed on this thread is share BB's daily sales. @Eric Lyon does that break any rules?
Please keep the topic in mind "BrandBucket Experience - In the Review forum". If it's not a legitimate review about a personal experience with their services then it would be off-topic and not appropriate for this review thread. It might be seen as bias and questionable in ethics for a competing company to post negative information in a review thread regarding their competitor. Reviews are generally reserved for happy and unhappy customers, not really competitors.

You are more than welcomed to start your own thread topic so that this thread remains On-Topic. My only advice is to consider the impact of launching a campaign against a competitor prior to starting another thread.

No need to reply to my post, lets keep this thread on-topic about BrandBucket reviews.

Thanks for understanding,

Michael Krell answered a bunch of questions about BrandBucket in the interview we published today.

Today we sit down with Michael J Krell, managing director at BrandBucket. Michael took the time to answer the tough questions not just things like what makes a good brandable ? He took the time to address controversies and why they charge what they charge for commission. 1) How long have you been buying and selling brandable names ? I got into the domain industry about 4 years ago, and started โ€ฆ [Read more...]

@Eric Lyon, is this not self-promotion? The link redirects to his own blog that is flooded with ads. Am I allowed to author a blog post about BB and post it here?

It's providing a Support related article/interview that answers many of the questions in this review thread. As long as a member/company is providing support to customers already using and reviewing their service, it's fine. There is a difference between Support and Advertising. Additionally, This interview that involves support related answers was provided by another BB customer.

I get the feeling that your Blog post wouldn't be a support related interview with BB staff. So probably not. Self promoting in a competitors review thread is not allowed (internally or linked externally).

Let's keep the thread on-topic please.

Thanks for understanding,

I don't believe it would be self promotion on your part. You, like myself were once sellers on BrandBucket and we have clearly stated that we are not sellers there anymore. I still voice my opinion on the "BrandBucket Experience" even though I am no longer an active seller on their site. I have "experience" with BrandBucket and even though not still active can give newbies some positive direction.

Michael, you were also once a seller on BrandBucket and because of that have "experience" as a BrandBucket seller. So your "experience" qualifies you to respond on the "BrandBucket Experience". If done in a non-promotional way then I see no reason why they would delete what you post. Since you have a business account then I believe you can also have a personal account. Maybe if they won't let you post as Brandroot the business then maybe the will let you post as Michael Radar the X BrandBucket seller. You are absolutely qualified to post your opinion here on the "BrandBucket Experience". As an X BrandBucket seller I am sure you have lots of great information from back in the day about your "BrandBucket Experience" Would love to hear some of that information when you were just a seller on BrandBucket.

I am sure @Eric Lyon would agree.

Thank you for that. I'll consider creating a personal account. I actually still do have an open account at BrandBucket with a few logos still up for sale.

You are even more qualified to voice your opinion on the "BrandBucket Experience" because you actually still have an active account at BrandBucket. If that doesn't qualify you then I don't know what does.

Can 100,000 names on BrandBucket be far away at that rate?

They have actually added about 7,500 names, since they also sold about 400 during 6 months. That means adding 15,000 names a year gross, about 14,000 net. It would take them about 5 years from now to get to 100K names.

Someone is trying to mess with my site to try and get me off Google but I am going to get that sorted out.

@michaeljkrell - Has BrandBucket considered domain name syndication? So that names listed for sale on BrandBucket show up for searches at different registrars, if there is an exact match search for the domain on a third-party website.

For example, domains for sale by the HugeDomains marketplace show up as premium domains at Sedo, Afternic, and in the registrar path of lots of different registrars, most importantly GoDaddy.

BrandBucket is a different platform than HugeDomains, so there would be a few complications with arranging this, but it could expose the names on BB to a lot of additional buyers/eyeballs, that would not have known about BB or a particular domain otherwise (through type-in or organic search).

Perhaps something like the Afternic Standard network ("slow transfer" would be the only option, since automatic fast-transfer is not possible due to the widespread ownership of names on BB), or like Domain Name Sales name syndication (potential buyers are sent directly back to the Domain Name Sales marketplace when there is an exact match search on the third-party website).

if they did that then they would have to add in the extra commission cost from whichever registrar it sold at. Your commission rate would jump from 30% to 50%. That extra 20% neither you or BB would want to give up.

Yes and no... It depends on how they allocate their advertisement income.

If this is more effective than Google Ads then possibly they could reallocate some of those funds to something like this.

I thought it sounded like an idea for BB to at least consider if they can make the right deals.

(though, not if it involved raised commission)

You can't get past the extra 20% commission so I don't understand what you mean.
